Losing a relationship is another form of bereavement except you know that the person is still alive and thus can't help thinking or fantasising that somehow you might have a chance of getting back together again so perhaps that makes it even harder to move on.

Perhaps remind yourself of all the things that DIDN'T work and try every day before you go to sleep to come up with a couple of positive things which have happened during your day. Some days it will be hard but make this a little test for yourself for the New year and try to find a new activity of some kind like a dance or keep fit class which will get you out and mixing with others. It may feel a reluctant activity at first if your emotional or physical energy is low but you need to start somewhere and the less time you spend on your own brooding the sooner your outlook will slowly start to change.
Don,t expect an overnight miracle. Grief of any kind hurts and can't be hurried but things WILL improve if you give yourself a chance.

I am glad you have updated,,,It will help others..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Thanks for updating, too many don't.

I hadn't seen this thread until tonight, and it was a painful read. So glad things have turned round for you.

When my ex and I split up many years ago, my Mum gave me a card with her favourite quotation, from Mother Julian of Norwich:

"Al shal be wel, and al shal be wel, and al maner of thing shal be wel."

It was true for me, and it seems for you too. I'm happy for you.

thank you for coming back and telling us how well you are and happy again. Going through the acute stage of loss is the most painful phase in anyone's life (whatever the loss) and makes you want to end it all, but life goes on and the storm calms down for everyone.

Hope it continues to go all up and well for you in 2014.
