help with letter refusing goodwill gesture please

how did you know it was Lloyds TSB?
I shall send them a letter as one suggested and tell them that I will accept it towards part payment of the full balance and that I will continue with my legal preceedings for the balance.
What annoyed more than anything else was that I wasn't even given the option as to whether accept it or not! The money just appeared in my account the same day that the letter arrived.
As someone suggested I would try and ring but funnily enough the phone must be off the hook as I can never get through, and I mean never!
thanks for the help.0 -
I am too in the very same position, I have just had a letter from Natwest saying that as a gesture of good will they will give me £1200,I am taking them to court for £1800 what should I do? I am not sure what to do next if a refuse this offer HELP!!!!

hi
i asked abbey for 1400 of charges back, they then sent me a letter that they were going to credit my account with a good will gesture of 900 including charges to come, all together the charges to come were 160, before i received the letter the money was in my bank and direct debits were taken out, they did not give me a chance to reject the gesture! is there any thing i can do now???
thanks0 -

Continue your claim for the remainder and let them know you only accept that amount as partial payment.0 -

Hi Nibblec
It would be highly unfair of a bank to state you had agreed to this goodwill guesture without you being aware of it coming.
There are some things you can do.
Firstly this is not uncommon and has happened to others its the banks clever trick of looking innocent and trying to get away with paying as little as possible.
Write a letter back explaining that without prejudice you will accept this goodwill guesture as a part settlement however will still be pursuing the remaining balance.
As long as you do this you can still continue with court claim as you have not reached a settlement with the bank

i am in the same position. Started on line court proceedings and I have just had a letter offering me a goodwill gesture for 1843... I claimed 1940 plus interest of about 250. Scary stuff hey? I think I will write back to them and accept the offer, on condition they pay me the £120 court charge plus charges which have accrued since my first correspondence in this matter.Good luck with your decision, be good to know how you get on.

Thanks for that, just what I was looking for.
I have just had an acknowledgement letter from Moneyclaim, like you I am a little nervous about it all.
I'm guessing Lloyds will put up a defence...but then hopefully pay up before it goes to court.
Can't believe how long the process takes.
Thanks and all the very best
