Rec'd a letter today from Beneficial - HSBC saying they are going to give me a goodwill payment of £270 against my claim of £536 plus interest. Had my next letter ready to say thanks for the partial payment but i want the lot. Thought i would give them a ring before i sent the letter. Spoke to an advisor and she told me not to post the letter they would issue a new payment today. Told them i would accept £536 without the interest, shes going to send me a new letter today.

Fingers crossed its for the £536!!!

Thanks everyone for all your help!

  • If a credit card company has agreed to pay a goodwill payment as a result of the Ombudsman's intervention should this good-will gesture be included and assumed to be part of your monthly re-payment or just re-credited into your account? It seems that a cheque payment was not considered as my account was / is still open and I still owe on the card. Most of the companies have included the amount into monthly calculations but have one or two who refuse to..

Normally a refund would be credited to the account and would show on the next months statement or immediately if you have on-line access
  • it shows on the statement but only as a credit 'refund' not as a contribution to the monthly pay-back amount!

    Hi Guys,

Just received a letter from capital one, i initially claimed in my letter for them to refund me all of my late payment fees which I have paid over the years, this totaled up to £612 including interest however today I got a letter from them saying that they are willing to offer me a partial offer of £152 plus £10 interest, which I personally think is taking a !!!!, now which letter can I fire off requesting the full amount bearing in mind the offer they have made me. a link would be helpful i've searched the forum but no luck.

Can I take this opportunity to say thank you to moneysavingexpert.com if it was not for this forum I would have bothred reclaiming the charges. I havn't won yet but getting there slowly.
