Macpep if you use lard for your pastry, don't forget to warn any vegetarians before they partake.;)
Actually folks, same applies for roast potatoes - I've been made quite ill before, through eating roasties I didn't know had been cooked in goose fat._pale_If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello everyone  Just got back from tea and cake with friends from work - I had the most enormous slice of chocolate orange cake, and managed to finish the lot
No supper for me tonight
Hi All
Just a quick post from work as I really need to do mince pies tonight, using the best mince pie recipe from here Pen Pen you are in the know, :A can I use lard instead of trex as I cant get any, I have both lard & cookeen? Workmates really pestering me now & I finish up tomorrow!!
I didn't want to say, but as you ask
give up with the Trex and Cookeen and just use lard - far superior pastry IMHO

Ugh Today has not gone to plan
Started with decorating the xmas tree. Boxes out of attic and lights got out. As usual several not working so start taking each bulb out until found the duff ones. Then no spares, so must have used them all previously so decide to wlk into town (rather than drive even though it was raining as didnt know what parking would be like) Couldnt get spare bulbs anywhere as everyone seems to have moved onto the LED lights. Went into p*undland and found a set of snowman lights which had the same type of bulbs. Decided against buying DD any additional presents (after checking bank account _pale_ )as DH has agreed she can go on a second school trip next year (each costing over £700 ) sorted my brother out with toiletries and a gift card and came home. Had to put clothes on radiator so finished dressing tree in my PJ's and that has taken most of the day. Now DD is home and will no doubt be wanting something, oh yes, food for cadets tonight, money probably oh and a fancy dress costume sorting oh and she wont walk dog as its raining. Aaaagh ok better now. Need to rehoover put boxes away, put tablet onto charge and go do some more.
TTFNMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

Do any of you lovely people :Aknow what would be the best way to get a sticky, gluey substance off a wooden desk?
I stuck a bathroom floor tile to my old desk to make a makeshift mousepad
and now I've pulled it off and the gluey bit is still there.
The desk is quite tatty but it still does the job so I'm using it as a dressing table at the moment.:money:I think I am either going to paint and varnish it or just stick a tablecloth over it but I wanted to get the sticky stuff off first.:)0 -
Revolving Door - I've just had to take some lino tiles up in the Kitchen and they left sticky residue, also had spray glue residue on there too - don't ask! Anyway - I used Br!llo Pads, not sure how that would affect the wood of your desk but if its not that great it may be worth a go - had to use plenty of elbow grease but the stuff came off lovely
