  • GI if i were you id ring round and check whos at yours for christmas today, just so you dont get a nasty shock either way christmas lunchtime (by either a mountain of wasted food and hard word or just catering for yourselves and everyone arriving.) is their a time you can get some family members together and have the "we need to talk about mum" talk something need to be said. hugs to you as you obviously have a lot on your plate.

Thanks. DH has had a text from SIL and apparently they are staying home. I am fuming as they normally come here, sit on their @r$es & expect us to entertain the kids as well. But they didn't see fit to let us know that we will be having 4 less for christmas dinner. Out of 10 of us, that is about half the amount of food as MIL & other SIL eat like sparrows!! DH said 'what do you want me to do?' I said nothing - I just want the right to sound off about it!! Which i did :D Felt better for that. I think I may get DH to talk to his sister about his mum. His brother won't do anything - it will inconvenience them too much as she looks after the children (4 & 7) everyday after school & in the holidays

i have turned it into a positive - Christmas day will now be less work, less clearing up and a lot calmer :) I have spoken to my Mum and invited her and SD to dinner now. She was quite chuffed, and will ask him what he wants to do :)

It never rains but it pours! (and I don't just mean the weather :(). DH hasn't been paid today  Apparently they have c0ck'd up for a few of them in the same section :mad: I also need to have a word with him about money. We were supposed to be sitting down & going through everything about 2 months ago. I said at the time that I wouldn't hold my breath! A few things have come to light, so we need a chat :(

Ok. We have had lunch, so I think I may go to @ldi & buy a smaller than expected turkey crown.

The dogs hair has been decluttered, and he looks so much slimmer. I have made a hair appointnment for me tomorrow (not at the same place! :p) and hopefully it will have the same effect on me! :rotfl:

Before I go out I will load the TD. Back later :)

GI I really hope that company get some come uppance for messing your DD around. It seems to be more and more common that a trial shift is done and no job is available at the end of it. It's a trick employers are using to get free labour.

I think you are right, especially as this was the weekend they opened & they had people queuing out the door! On a positive note, it made her step out of her comfort zone and she was a lot more confident with people than she EVER thought she would be :)

I wrapped some presents this morning :) And 2 more have arrived this morning.

Hold that though and when it all goes well on the day make it the new norm ;)

Spent the morning at hospital appointment with DS2. Popped to JL on the way home to pick up 2 more bits. Think that is it for presents bar my own which I'll either sort or not (really not that bothered).

Time for a cuppa and a HHC before going over to a neighbours for a cuppa and a chat.

Flippity-flappity-flip-flap-flap......screeeeeeeech......BUMP. *comes to halt on runway*

Flying done for today.:D So there!:D:D Just a few balance exercises on the WiiFit and Brain Training to go, then await Dave's arrival.;)

    WM has been on with hair-colour-stained towels and a bunch of hankies;
BM on as I type (nearly done)
Wash basin cleaned of hair colour.
Loo cleaned; naff cleaner that was a freebie used up and usual stuff that's better on limescale broken out of storage.
    Hand-wash-only top washed.

Probably won't be around tomorrow - we shall be welcoming the Solstice with a cup of hot tea laced with a teaspoon of whisky out on the patio at sunrise tomorrow; after that...... well, I'll leave that to your imagination.;)

I do have to pop into town to get my prescription filled (the reliable pharmacist is on duty on Fridays), but other than that, tomorrow is our celebration day.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Just popping in to say hello. Don't get chance to get on here now I'm working everyday and I seem to be rushing to the girls swimming or dancing after school so don't get time to go on the thread.

Got an easy working from home day today, so I thought I'd check in and use a list to help me focus and get sorted. The girls finish school today so we're having a tidy up and sort out day tomorrow and Saturday, then it's DD2's birthday on Sunday, so we've got family (about 20 people ) round for tea on Sunday. So, thanks for the list Dusty, I think it'll be well used in the next 48 hours.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the big day, apologies I've not had time to read back and catch up, but I've now got 15 minutes to do a quick lounge declutter before doing the school run and heading off to the shops with DD1 for a few last minute bits.
  • Also, Dusty, can you please add me to AnW's Mum's ironing all done by new year list?

    Thanks very much

Hugs to all who's families are being "difficult" x

Well, DS dinosaur cuddly has arrived, as have the photos. So I've put the pics in the frames and that will be the very last of the wrapping tonight.

Spare bedding is in airing cupboard with the big throw, and wm is doing its thing. So will hang all that up, then do some tea for kiddies. She is dancing about in a grass skirt, and he is growling like a dinosaur. We have a rather elaborate wooden railway covering the LR rug and several dollies being cuddled in turn.

Tots keep peeking out of the letterbox, saying "ugh" and running back to the warmth. Don't think it's actually got light today. Still, with the solstice, it's all uphill from here :D

Right. Am going to borrow some paper from the colouring book to make my template for gingerbread house... Wish me luck.
