I dont know which way to go forward i am thinking of taking barclaycard to court, i requested they pay back £615 but then they forwarded £128 into my account saying this was the difference.
Has anyone had any luck with the ombudsman if so do you have a templete letter that you have sent to reclaim credit card charges.0 -
Hi
I am currently using the FO for a claim against HSBC and Natwest.
They have been very helpful and written to let me know the various stages.
Look at financial ombudsman complaints handling policy (FO site)
It is set out to show the procedure and timescale until the next stage.
So far I have recieved a letter confirming they have written to both banks, and a further letter called an Acknowledgement. I should recieve a Report letter today. However, they have stated that they have a large caseload at the moment. I did start my claim on 31st July. The Fo have gine me a timescale of 8weks in total, others have said that this is the latest date ,will have to wait and see. Ring them and see what they say.
The Fo are not taking on any more cases unless the delay is causing financial hardship.SPC £500 well will try very hard.
GC £6.16/£1500 -

the fo will take on credit card cases as they are a separate matter from the test case. if it is for current account charges then they will only take it on if you claim you are suffering from hardship.0 -
I just posted a message on the "successes" thread to say that I'm getting my Natwest and Mint credit card charges refunded (very close to the amount claimed). I sent the complaint forms on July 19th and received the offer letters this morning. About 6 weeks all together - I had almost given up.0

Long story short, Barclays bank tell me all refund requests are on hold pendind this test case and that the FO are aware of this.
4 weeks later the FO send me an update on my complaint. ( the update is that i will be written to with an update )
Surely the FO know about this, are ppl still getting any results through the FO or not, or is it really like trying to flog a dead horse getting your bank charges back?Chasing up on: Barclaycard closed account 1K +
Cetelem x 2 closed 2k+
Barclays Bank closed 1k+
then onto,
EggCard £142
LLoydsTSB £440
LLoyd creditcard £500+
thankyou all for the help.0 -
Assuming that your case was put to the FO before the test case was announced they should still be dealing with it, but it does take time.0

Still waiting to hear from the FO with my Crap1 claim. Must say they are not rushing themselves at all! Started this in mid June and they said last week that they would be contacting them this week as they had not heard from them. Presume that must be the 8 weeks they recommend.0

We follwed martins guide to reclaim to the letter, going via the ombudsman route. We received a reply from the ombudsman staing that LloydsTSB would offer us a small sum extra on top of 750.00 already offered by Lloyds, touble is we never received an offer from the bank! When we informed the ombudsman they said we should leave it to them and they would deal with the matter. Since then the OFT court business has started and we have heard nothing from ombudsman despite being told a specialist team is dealing with it. Do you think we will ever get our money back???0

I put in my claim for bank charges ages ago with the FOS. I understand all the test case information that has been given. I just have one question - Some of the money I was trying to reclaim was taken from my account when I was on benefits, should I get in touch with the FOS and inform them about this to see if I will still be able to claim that back too? I have a feeling the charges taken will be outside the six years once the test case/appeal etc is sorted out.
Also, now that I'm on maternity leave, hence getting maternity pay, do I fall into the "hardship case" bracket as my income has reduced?
I hope someone can help me with this as I could do with seeing if anyone can shed some light on it before I ring the FOS.
Thanks in advance.0 -
has anyone actually had any joy with the ombudsman and hardship cases. I am getting so disillusioned with them!!
they have had all my details and complaint since the test case was announced.
I have emailed several times to ask what is happening, and get a very curt reply back saying they have received my complaint and it will get dealt with as soon as possible, and thats it,no names(just from external enquiries) no details, no answers to my questions, like have they contacted the bank etc etc.
I have been holding back writing to the bank again and going to court as was waiting for the ombudsman to deal with this, but so far there replies are as useful as the banks!!
I ahve now emailed the FSA, who originally advised that the ombudsman would help me as the bank were wrong, explainging that i have not got any further with them than i did with the bank.
whats going on I thought they were there to assist the consumer :mad:0
