Hi, I've read on the FO website that they are no longer taking on new complaints for bank charges. Does this include credit cards and store cards. I wanted to complain about GE Money and Capital One and can't afford court costs at the moment.

Any help will be much appreciated xx

No credit cards are treated differently - they are not fast by any means but they are free, so go for it! Good luck!

I went to the FO on 6th July about Mint cc charges got the usual we will look into it letter and then yesterday got a letter from FO offering me almost full settlement (£17 short) which I have accepted. So it took about a month which I am very happy with, I hope it doesn't take too long to get the money.
I am now going to go down the same route with Natwest cc instead of going to court.
  • asked for 6500 from abbey.was given 800 as goodwill gesture.referred to fos.was then offered 2500.declined offer and asked fos to pursue case further.announcement was then made re test case.phoned fos and asked could i accept the 2500 offer now as i may end up getting nothing.they said that my case will still be looking at my case and that abbey still have to look at it as i had already been made an offer.does this sound right?has anyone else had a similar case?
  • Please help ,I am new here and not sure if this is the right place?

I have contacted the Ombudsman re HSBC charges, they are willing to take on my case as I am suffering financial hardship as I have benefits paid into this account.

I am completing the complaints form and I am not sure whether to attach the without prejudice letter making me an offer?

The offer was for £1,500 less than the amount I was claiming.I replied that I would accept this as part payment only.
I will of course attach the correspondace and calculation of charges, any other information or help would be great.
    Thanks

  • I only wondered if this will take weeks/ months.

I am dealing with the fo as I am suffering financial hardship and they have agreed to look at the case. Any advice would be great as I really need the money.

Is anyone else in the same position?

Should I include the without predjudice offer letter with the complaint from?

The FO will give you an idea of how long it will take but usually it takes a bit less than they suggest.

Copy and send all correspondence you have had with the bank.
  • Hi Edinburghlass

Many thanks for your help, I shall send all correspondance including the wothout prejudice offer. Can I also ask

you if the claim is settled how long does it take for the money to hit my
    account?

  • Hi Edinburghlass
Many thanks for your wise words, I have recieved a letter this morning from the FO. Acknowledging my letter and stating that they are dealing with my case although they have high workload at the moment.

At least something is happening, will let you know what happens next.

  • I rather niavly thought the FO would have abit more time on their hands for cc claims because they aren't dealing with any more bank claims.
But my claim has been with them a month now and it is still waiting to be looked at whereas after this amount of time with my bank claim I was almost at the offer stage.
Has anyone else found it's taking longer?
