  • I can remember watching my sister fill her dishwasher when I was holiday with her. God! I soooooo wanted one!

When we got home OH asked me what I wanted for Xmas. I don't know why he even bothered to ask me!

My new dishwasher arrived and I spent the evening washing everything I could lay my hands on! Twelve years on, I still love it!

I'm considering getting a food processor for Christmas. Can anybody tell me whether I'm likely to experience a thrill such as you have described here when acquiring such a thing? Is there a particular brand I should go for?

Please bare in mind we gave away our smoothie maker after just two uses because it was a pain in the !!!! to dismantle and wash.

I look forward to your replies!

I got similar exciting feeling in the summer when purchasing Karcher window cleaner... And that is magical. It sucks all the water off the window clean, so no need to shine it up!
My OH was just shaking his head... He said I am not that excited when he takes his pants down.. I said if he takes them down to clean the windows himself I might let a little wee out with excitement like little excited puppies do...

Oh no don't say that I've been mulling one of those over. I love our husbands reaction.

    Happy moneysaving all.

Go and have a look at the models on sale at John Lewis or somewhere similar. Check to see how easy they are to clean, then make your choice. But only pick the one that gives you the 'thrill' .

    Good luck OP .
  • I've got one of those robot cleaners. OH always talks to her when he comes home and she's scooting round the floor!:rotfl:
  • I got a hoover from the Vax sale too it arrived today so it should come soon but when you get the UPS tracking code and say's delivery date 12/12/12 it's the day after :)

  • I've ordered a Vax All Terrain Cleaner in the Vax sale, reduced from £400 to £160. I'd been tempted by the sale anyhow, and when my Dyson died this weekend, it seemed like fate.

This new beastie promises to scrub and wash my flooring. With my clan of cats trekking through the house, such a service is very tantalising.

I find myself now perking up at every courier van that drives past my house. Father Christmas was never so eagerly anticipated.

I wonder if it will indeed clean my house as promised, or if it will go the way of the things that I yearned for in my childhood, so wonderful and glorious, like

    - the jumping beans (turned out to be a ball bearing in a pill capsule),

    - x ray glasses (couldn't see much of anything, let alone extra) and

    - sea monkeys (they were tiny shrimp-like things, no smiles, no eyes looking directly at you to interact, no crowns, no happy mummy and daddy families like in the adverts).

AH, I too remember the anticipation of the sea monkeys followed by disappointment, and i'd saved up my pocket money for ages too!

I once bought a knitting machine and got so excited - I could make the kids 'knits' in less than half the time.
I think I used it twice - OH developed a fascination with it and 'took over' and I was left using two needles method!
and to annoy him I took a pic of him using it! in my nastier moments I threatened to put on his works notice board!
oh and the kids didnt have more garments - he knitted them up then abandoned them! and I wasnt going to sew them up as I hate doing that!

I drove my boys absolutely mad when I got my Henry earlier in the year.....I was hoovering everything in sight, including ceilings!

Paid for it later though, I overdid things and could barely move for the next week.

My weirdest one was when my lights went on my car early this year, when I got the car back from the garage, I just sat there turning the lights on and off for ages like a child with a new toy!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
