    I've been Money Tipped!
After 3 No spend days I will have to go draw my hk allowance and have a spend day today! Been using up the leftovers and last night we had a make do toad in the hole type dinner using 2 aunt Bessie type yorkshire puddings each and a few cocktail sausages. With mashed potatoes and carrots and gravy it made a lovely dinner!

We don' t need much other than milk and eggs but I want to stock up on some dog food in case of bad weather!

Someone asked about using up mulled wine? I pour it into the slow cooker and poach pears or apples in it, makes a lovely dessert served with cream or ice cream!

  • Have figured out how i can have a NSD today, my nephew is here for the day, so i've got 3 under 5's in my house, i was going to take them to the local big city 25 miles away, and go to a free museaum and spend their christmas vouchers but after a quick google the museaum is shut till Monday :( BOO. And as we're actually going to said big city tomorrow for our annual panto trip we'll spend our vouchers tomorrow. So today will no consist of bking cakes, a trip to to village library and possibly the park if the weather hold out, beans on toast for lunch as i have nothing in for sandwiches and a freezer bolognese for dinner. I did need toilet roll but my mum bought me some on her way to drop my nephew off and didn't want the money back, WIN. X

Anyone have any good recipes for parsnips for someone who hates how sweet they are? DH loves them, I can't stand them roasted.

Mashed 50/50 with carrots is nice, the parsnip haters in this house will eat them that way. Only I like them roasted in this house so what I normally do is freeze them - so peel, chop as normal, par-boil for a few minutes and then freeze on an open tray. Bag them once frozen then dig a few out each time you need them and roast from frozen.

£13 on a mixed F&V box - our milkman does a banana box full, good value if rather repetitive in content.

88p in beef bones for stock in the butchers - 99p/KG! I used to get them free from the good butchers. Destined for french onion soup later.

£7.65 in Aldi, breakfast stuff and nuts for my meat averse DS2.

Thanks! My husband will love that. Unfortunately, I hate carrots too. They're still too sweet. Can you tell that I like savoury stuff much better than sweet stuff?

I will probably follow your instructions on freezing them though, means we won't need to buy any to go with our next roast. :)

    Morning everyone.

Had to pop to Ald* this morning as I thought I had milk in the freezer but when I looked it must have got used over Christmas. Also realised that i did not have enough coffee to last until next week's shop and I can do without most things but not that:o
Anway... once in there I simply coould not resist the already marked down gammon joints and boxes of cheese board cheese that had a further 50% off. Also had use by date of the 8th so I have put them in the freezer and they will still have a 4 days to use them once they are defrosted:j
Also got about 2 months supply of half price sausages:money:

Just felt they were too good to resist and I am am still under budget as i am now 2 weeks into my January GC. That said, I will be stying away until at least next Friday:D

    Have a good day

It's never too late to join in the GC! Even if you want to start mid-month with a budget to get you to the next payday. Come and join the party!!!

I need to update my signature with some spends. I also did a stocktake of my 'shop' (2nd purse) last night - seems it got raided over the Christmas period  Mr Nobody again!

    Have a good day all

  • I am so happy, went out to the car to sort out the car seats to go out, and found a long forgotten about bag of shopping, it contained a

    - 48 pack of sainbobs weeatabix
    - long life dairy free milk
    - 2 packs of bread sticks
    - 2 pack of crackers
    - a big bag of rasins

So happy, it will keep the kids in snacks for a while longer and we are nearly out of weetabix, made my day, but also made me think i should clean my car out a bit more often.

  • Hi
Slight change of plan, cancelled my Mr T delivery for today and went in store instead, spent £33.64, I still need a few bits, but will get them over the weekend, nothing crucial! Stocked up on washing liquid, toilet cleaner etc in that too, so fairly pleased :)
Should be a nsd today, not planning on leaving the house :D
    Have a good friday :j
