  • All I have spent so far this month is £3.50 which is a good start for my 3 days! I sent my dd into Iceland yesterday to get 2 bottles of milk and a big bottle of Juicee-that way I couldn't spot "b argains" and spend money! We had a very simple tea tonight of fishcakes mash and mushy peas and it was a delight in its simplicity! I bagged a free carpet in excellent condition from Freecycle for one of the bedrooms also so that is a weight off my mind. Planning my decorating on the cheap this year 3 bedrooms need doing! Well I have free paint and a carpet-curtains are fine so I just need 2 more carpets-bedding is all good! Going to start a separate budget for household electrical repairs/replacements and one for home repairs. I will save £10 per week for each and then hopefully I won't get too many nasty surprises. Now decluttering and giving away what I no longer want. I have visions of the loft collapsing due to all the junk up there! ;+)

    Hi all,

Just checking in to add a spend of £8.00 to my total for some sudafed and some fruit. I have no idea really what the fruit came to as hubby bought two lots at "£2 odd" each  so I've allowed £5 for the both! Doesn't take instruction well! :rotfl:

Made some fancy 'artisan' type bread today as I'm off work so now have 2 loaves in the freezer and 2 for using tomorrow/saturday all for the price of a big bag of Te$co bread flour (66p) and a sachet of yeast (12p), oh, and electricity. Beats paying a kings ransome in our local posh bakery where it's nearly a fiver for a round of soda bread!

    Will update signature now.

I made flour tortillas tonight - so easy and basically flour and milk so very cheap too!

Hi Gien. That's similar to my vegan pancakes. If anyone wants to try them you save money because you don't add eggs. I just add some hazelnut milk or soya milk (you can use cows milk obviously) to flour, whizz in the food processor to make a batter and fry. Taste deeeeeelicious with syrup/sugar on and there really isn't much difference in taste, but cheaper :)

    Hi

Joining in a bit late but have set a budget of £60 a week to see how we go as I have no idea how much we are spending on groceries. There are two adults, an 8 year old and an 18 month old.

Target for January £240 and we have spent £9.40 on 2nd January so far.

    Good morning, peeps :)

This is gonna be my second no spend day this year!!
Sorry for not updating my signature but I'm keeping total in my spend diary now.
We had a tidy out the fridge dinner last night.
Posh fish cakes that were whoopsied (but out of the freezer), root mash with 10p a bag parsnips and the last 3 carrots and the last 4 diddy potatoes :)
Home made parsley and lemon thyme sauce with herbs from the garden.
Curly Kale which was also whoopsied at 10p. Got half a bag left. Might deep fry it, drain and sprinkle with salt for a Chinese style snack tonight to munch on ;)
Boozy choc cupcakes afterwards which were an experiment that worked well with whoopsied brandy butter and whoopsied chocolate mascarpone.

It's gonna be a stay at home day so I can't spend. Will be sewing and crocheting at intervals today :j

Not sure what's gonna be rustled up today. Will have to see what is on need of using up again.

Need to get some OJ from Lidl tomorrow with their weekend deals and some salad and milk again but hopefully that will be it.

Need to start using the whoopsied frozen veg up in the freezers before I buy anymore.

Have a frugaltastic day, peeps :)

    Morning all. :)

Well I had my very first NSD of the year yesterday. Never left the house and didn't enter or spend any money in a supermarket...yeeee haaa :) Long may it continue.

Today I have my grocery delivery and that will do me until next wednesday.

Have to admit I am so used to popping into the shops and am finding this difficult. I think I do this to mix with people and I know so many of the staff who take time to talk. I have been considering what I have missed these last few days and I have narrowed it down to that.

Breaking the habit is the worst part of it. So hopefully it will only hurt for so long. :)

I need to walk up to Aldi and Mr T for flour (55p), dried parsley, ground pepper, and ground cumin (total £1.50). Gets my exercise in for the day and sets me up for not needing to leave the house for the weekend. I *might* pick up another 4 pt of milk for £1 as well while I'm up there.

Anyone have any good recipes for parsnips for someone who hates how sweet they are? DH loves them, I can't stand them roasted. Way too sweet! I have half of a bag in the fridge and want to use them to be rid of them. I typically buy them loose so DH has some and I don't have to eat them, but the bag was 39p when I bought them, so cheaper than loose.
