Someone asked about using up mulled wine? I pour it into the slow cooker and poach pears or apples in it, makes a lovely dessert served with cream or ice cream!

That sounds delicious catznine. Will be having a try at that. Thanks :)
Well I decided to empty and clean my second fridge today. Packs of cooking fat for the birdies as oops they are 2011 dated!!!Now sipping my cuppa with its 2nd used teabag(yorkshire tea makes 2 mugs).
DD thought I was mad when I started preparing food at 10 am but Ive done the remaing carrots from Christmas with half a bag of sprout, some oldish potatoes(pre Christmas shop)and frozen peas.Hasving breaded garlic chicken with it. Have taken out some frozen HM stuffing, yorkies ,frozen apple and frozen crumble, sausages for tomorrows sausage casserole/cumberland sauce in jar at the ready. So tonight we will have a feast! Some of it will be leftover for tomorrow(the casserole is for tomorrow) so I will just add anything I need then veg wise. I do like to cook 2 days worth at a time to save fuel. Thawing out some bread also and got my small breadbin from my loft and I will put the big one away as it's one of those big terracota crocks which you lose your hand it and it's too big for us now. This has caused waste over the past year so now it is yet another small thing sorted! I am going to start using my soapnuts again as I've been using homemade laundry liquid and fancy a change. I do use the commercial stuff occasionaly to brighten up the wash though. NSD for me today-I will only venture out to get DS from work!

Wow angelatgraceland. I need to take a leaf out of your book and start getting organised. I bet you feel great after all that :)

I need some bread today but when OH comes home from work we're popping out so I'll get him to buy it.

Off to update my signature and take down all the Christmas decs :( I usually do it on 12th night but I have my granddaughter tomorrow and then we are at the Panto for the matinee performance :)

  • Hubby went to Lidl today for rolls and spent £10.78, sigh - that was with a list too!!! I find the Aldi luxury scented loo rolls great value at 99p for 4 - the best & cheapest non-value range I've came across at a constant price xx

  • Thought I would just pop online whilst waiting for MrT to arrive with our shopping. I meal planned and bought according to meal plan - when looking back at shopping list I realised I've not bought any veg so need to make sure we put more veg into meals in future.

As a result, I've signed up with Riverford to have a veg box delivered each week. Does anyone else use them? I've found other companies that do the same so will see how this first box goes. It will add £16.95 into our weekly shop but I will plan my meals around it and I'm sure the other bits we buy will come in at £40 so should still be in our weekly budget. I'm also adamant that every last bit of vegetable will be used - even if that means having savoury mince on Wednesday night so all bits can be used. I'm quite excited about the first box coming :-)

Thanks for this tip, I stocked up today as it was the best deal by far at Mr T for toilet roll! However I think you mean 9 rolls not 18 - unless the bigger stores have this offer as my one doesn't stock 18 packs x
I did double check, as somebody else mentioned this (thought I was going a bit crazy),It was for 18 rolls, but the pack included 100% extra free. So it would normally be for 9, instead of 18 and was on sale at one of the larger stores, so yes maybe the larger stores only stock this size.

Well that's the first proper shop of the year under my belt! Feeling extremely proud of myself as apart from 2 unexpected YS bargains I did not deviate from my list AT ALL!!!!! :A

Spent £29.19 at MrA and then went to MrM for fruit and veg as theirs is always better - spent £6.07 there including 2 YS pizza bases for 19p and 6 choc croissants for 49p :T

Spent most of last night on mysupermarket.com making up my list for MrA and ditching everything I won't need - just wish they had details for MrM too as they are my main shops and MrM is usually my first choice. It was really strange to see the trolley less than half full as the 5 of us usually fill it right to the brim of junk!!!

Anyway got banana bread in the oven along with some cookies and I have all the ingredients for Hairy Dieter pies and lasagne so we are sorted!!

Shouldn't need to go to the shops again before Tuesday when the kids go back to school so hopefully another 3 NDS on the cards - fingers crossed.:T

I am so happy, went out to the car to sort out the car seats to go out, and found a long forgotten about bag of shopping, it contained a

    - 48 pack of sainbobs weeatabix
    - long life dairy free milk
    - 2 packs of bread sticks
    - 2 pack of crackers
    - a big bag of rasins

So happy, it will keep the kids in snacks for a while longer and we are nearly out of weetabix, made my day, but also made me think i should clean my car out a bit more often.

That really made me smile - glad I am not the only one who "loses" their shopping!!!
