Grocery Spend Weekly Challenge (Sat-Fri):£30.50/£400 -
HI all, everyone seems to have got off to a good start.
Spent £67 this week instead of usual £90 :j
Have shopped in Aldi £42, Sainsbury £13, HBargainS £4, Coop £2, Iceland £1, Local Veg shop £3 and Wilkinson £2 over past 2 days. Did stock up on some toiletries and also bought 6 more chicken fillets even though I have 26 in freezer alreadyFigured I wouldn't have to defrost ones I need for tomorrows 'meal planned' tea then!
Really pleased with myself, however back at work full time next week so that will be the real test as won't have time to go around all these shops.

:hello: just back from lidl having seen on here that their passata is 29p and mr t has recently put theirs up to something like 59p  so had changed to tinned toms from mr t but they're still more than their passata was! Anyway, went and stocked up on passata in lidl and also had a look arund whilst there and got some beetroot far cheaper than mr t, as well as some extra lean mince which works out 42p cheaper than mr t for 500g.
I wouldn't have thought to go in there had it not been for this forum, so thanks! :T:T
Total spent on food today: £7.04 but won't need any passata or beetroot for a while! :rotfl:0 -
Just received my Mr T's £48.38. wow its not alot
Their value coffee isn't too bad .53p for 100g. I am sure L1dl is cheaper but not me having to drive a 20 mile round trip just to go there to get it.

Hi,
Been lurking here for a while, I'd like to join the GC for 2013. Put me down for £1200 for the year. I'm going to aim for £100 but want to allow for months where I spend less and use that in another month like December.
So I'm going for the annual one.No buying unnecessary toiletries 2013: Start 112 items 01/01/13

Today was my fourth nsd of the year. Hoorah!
Tomorrow it will end as we are really in need of fruit and veg. Today i switched slow cooker back on and threw in some sweetcorn, couscous and meatless mince along with the sweet and sour sauces and a big splodge of tomato puree. Its bubbling away and tastes quite nice, if a little, erm, different.
There will be lots to go into tubs for freezer meals. I love stocking up the freezer with homecooked meals. Thank goodness i have a well stocked pantry and cupboards with lots of tinned goods, beans and pulses.
Want to start buying lots more frozen veg. I usually buy fresh only but on days when i am not up to shopping for it, preparing it etc, it would be very handy. I reckon i could also make loads of extra slowcooker meals if i had frozen veg on hand too.
Really pleased i went for the annual grocery budget. It seems a magnificent amount of money to spend on food, but i know many people spend far more, and i know after all this time, what will work for my family.
I am hoping too, that when i get more organised, i will be able to do specific grocery spends, such as large and often discounted bulk purchases of beans and pulses or all my flours for the month, bread, s.r. and plain, for example.
Happen to have found some homemade biscotti in the freezer today....so nice, just right with my cuppa...hardly sweet at all, but the almonds in it give it a sweetness. I am so fed up of sweet stuff. We still have a large px of thorntons we havent opened yet...and i am really not bothered about them at all!
Gave 2 identical boxes away already! I daresay in a week or two i will be hankering for something sweet ough...Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

SAVVYMUMMY wrote: »I did double check, as somebody else mentioned this (thought I was going a bit crazy),It was for 18 rolls, but the pack included 100% extra free. So it would normally be for 9, instead of 18 and was on sale at one of the larger stores, so yes maybe the larger stores only stock this size.
Savvy.
Doh! Wish that had been at our Mr T! I'll keep an eye out for it to see if we get any in, can never have too much loo roll especially at that price! xGrocery Challenge 2019 YTD-£820.46/£7200(11%)

Quick question, does anyone know if you can freeze Brie? I bought some for Christmas and we haven't even opened it. Really cross with myself as I have been doing really well at buying only what we'll eat.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
