Can I just ask, how do I put the bit at the bottom of my post so I can keep track of my GC?
(Sorry)0 -
hi all.
Really want to do my utmost to keep spending to the minimum.
so I have only bought late night whoopsies this week. my most expensive item was 6 muller corners for 50p. so I have spent 2.45.
Also have been using wombles to pay for some of the shopping. so on the 1st shop only spent 26p.
Pretty happy as I have bought cheese scones, loaves of bread to freeze, toffee muffins, garlic sausage, bags of stirfry and chocolate chip cookies on these pennies.grocery challenge 9.86/600 -

Hi Jo Jo. On the green bar above you'll see UserCP. Click on this and on the left hand side you'll see Your Control Panel. If you look down you can see Setting and Options Click on the words edit signature. Click on that and you can add your sig and update as and when.

Mrs_T_M - have you asked your landlord about the hens? We rent out our old place down south and had a no pets rule but our tenants got in touch to ask if they could keep hens and we agreed. They now have a couple of dogs living there too. They are good tenants and we figure if they have a coop/run and kennels in the garden they are less likely to leave plus it's hard to find somewhere else they can keep the animals. I suppose it depends where the rental is and how long you want to stay - our place is fairly rural and they've been there for 3 years so far.
Spent another £7.07 today. My daughter wanted to bake and we used up all our store cupboard basics before xmas. Only needed flour, sugar, marg and eggs plus a loaf of bread and 3 onions but our local shop is quite expensive.2018 wins: parrot drone :A £250 GBK giftcard  Ed Sheeran tickets :T Vampirina Microphone0 -
Just come back from taking my 83 year old mother around @ldi....and I wasn't tempted once.......I'm on a no spend month this Jan. There were offers on that looked ok, like potatoes and veg but I have enough to last a week, so my mantra is going to be, if I can live without it, I will do without it.
It's very easy to take your eye off the ball and go for offers like BOGOF's and 50% extra etc on things that you don't need. but if your on a tight budget you must ask yourself
"do I really, really NEED that" or am I just tempted. The aim of supermarkets is to make you part with your money, they're not charities. So you have to be firm with yourself.GC - Oct £36.17/£31

So true Gracie. And the thing about bargains is 'If you don't need it, it's not a bargain!'
Well done for staying firm

How good is that toilet roll for blowing noses with? The reason I'm asking is that DH can blow right through Andrex, but the Mr. S and Mr. M medium grade stuff (typically 9 rolls for £3) works quite well.Mrs_T_M - have you asked your landlord about the hens? We live about a mile from the city centre, so still very urban. Our landlady would probably let us have 3-4 hens, it's the getting the neighbours to not complain about them that I think might be an issue. Then again, when the hens are laying, bribing with eggs *is* a viable option! :rotfl:
The landlady had a strict no pets policy, but we contacted her through our letting agency and she has no problems with us having two netherland dwarfs. I'm slowly doing a few home improvements (compost in the two beds in the garden, planing off the top of one of the doors that won't close completely, towel racks in the bathroom, etc) that I'd like to have and that I'd like to do. I might get brave once we've been here a year and discuss having a few hens with the landlady then. Besides, the shavings could be used as mulch on the garden (after it's aged a bit). I'd really have to research how to build a fox proof chicken pen though. Back in the states we had foxes, but they never bothered even our free range chickens. What we had to deal with was hawks, owls, and raccoons!
Also - it is sad that I'm looking for a particular receipt so I can return mustard seed? We won't use it probably, and it was over a £, so I'm thinking get that back for the budget.0 -

Yes, I have used frozen swede last year when catering a Burn's Night meal. Served it mashed with lots of ground pepper and some butter, just made sure it was well drained after cooking and it was fine.
