    Hi all,

I had to finally buy some veg today, and two tins of beer as my brother was coming, so a spend of 16.35€. He'll be staying longer than I thought so I'll have to have a look around at what we can do for tomorrows dinner.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Jan 1st was a no spend day.

Today hubby did the first grocery shop of 2013, and spent £55.50 at Asda, and £7 on pet food.

I need to work on making meals from what we have rather than sticking to my random meal plan, as this results in wasting stuff. So tonight instead of having spicy bean burgers with sweet potato wedges, we had pork, coleslaw and wedges. We can have the beans a day we don't have anything fresh and perishable in, as it's made from tinned stuff.:j:j

First grocery shop of 2013 and I spent 15.50 at Tesco. Not too bad really, just a few basics - milk, potatoes, spinach, fruit, yogurt plus some reduced price puff pastry and a cheap bottle of beer (to make beef and ale pie with some of our leftover roast beef) and some curry paste (to make curry with the rest of it).

This should be a low spend month as I won a meat hamper at christmas so we started the month with a fair bit of meat in the freezer plus I went to Costco with my mum in Dec so we are all stocked up with toilet rolls, tins, washing up liquid, nappies etc. It's lovely to have a cheaper month after Dec but prob won't get a good idea of how much we usually spend.
2018 wins: parrot drone :A £250 GBK giftcard  Ed Sheeran tickets :T Vampirina Microphone :)

£10.081 spent in Mr S tonight on the way home from work. Only went in for beans and lucozade for my off colour DH but got 2 packs of GF Christmas tree shortbread at 70% off so 74p each with a date to May. I'm putting these away for our caravan holiday in April (might dip some in choc first). Also bought my fave GF cereal and some earl grey t bags on offer.

All these items were on my list for the weekend (except the biccies) so don't feel too bad about buying them now.

I have signed up to mysupermarket again and I am working through costing out my shopping list. Not much difference between Mr T and Mr A except an extra 12 miles. DH does work next to a mr t but my list might be too long for him. He is ok with a short list but the list I am doing is to last us up until the 13th Jan so is quite long but is coming in quite low cost wise, sell for me it is:rotfl:

I seem to have rather a lot of my budget left at this point in the month. Fingers crossed as any surplus is going in the savings account to pay off the secured loan AKA The Beast:eek:
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Evening all...crumbs, have been AWOL from the Grocery Challenge for quite some while...oops!!!

So getting back into it all, aiming for £300 and 18 NSDs in January for all food and house-hold goods.

Not sure if this will work, only the two of us normally, but have had both boys home from Uni. DS1 heads back this weekend and DS2 the next week. Once they leave, life will settle down again...they eat soooo much!!! Not going to include the mega-shops we do for each son when we take them back...that is part of our funding for them.

Started off yesterday with NSD 1, today DH did the shop in Ald! as I was working. He was made redundant in October, so we need to sort out our spending to help with our money-saving plans.

Here's to a great year of saving yet still eating anf living well xx
