  • Getting in early with a Happy New Year! Just posting as my Annual GC starts tomorrow, and my shopping list is already written. I won't need to buy anything on New Years' Day but will do a top up shop for everyday bits and bobs on Wednesday - the first spend of the year. I'm switching supermarket to see whether I can rack up loyalty points to use at Christmas rather than do it the way I did this year. We'll see. :)

So, meals planned for the week:

    Tonight - leftover nibbles
New Years' Day - Roast Chicken with all the Trimmings
Wednesday - Not sure - freezer surprise
Thursday - Toad in the Hole with beans
Friday - Chilli con Carne with Sauteed Potatoes
Saturday - Meat Feast Pasta Bake
Sunday - Sweet & Sour Pork with Noodles

The list is made, the purse strings are pulled tight and I'm going to do all I can to make 2013 a year of considered and frugal spending. Happy New Year everyone and welcome to all the newbies - lovely to see you.

    KB xx

Having looked at the cash in the bank to last until pay day on the 15th it appears that I am poorer than I thought! So its a definite effort to get through this week and next using things up that I already have in.
Had a total NSD yesterday and today (first time in living history for me!) and have some quorn sausages, sweet potato wedges and baked beans on the go for tea tonight.
Will have to be creative with what's already in until the weekend when I'll do a minimal shop for next week.
    Custard and yorksire puddings anyone?:rotfl::rotfl:
  • DH has been to shopping today so we've spent our first £5.75 of the weekly budget. He only bought bread and milk but our DD is wheat free and her bread alone cost £2.39 - thankfully it lasts a while. I'm going to have to look at the cost of baking it myself.

Going to the coast for a walk along the seafront and fish&chips for lunch so will take them out of the budget as well.
  • Had my first grocery shop of the month delivered this morning (not accounting for delivery charge as that is pre paid on delivery saver) and total spend was £50.09 which is a lot less than it has been in the last few weeks! Managed to reduce it down from £55 before the order cut off by looking through some threads on here and changing a few things :-) makes me glad I re discovered the forums! :money:

Had my grocery shopping delivered this morning -came in at £74.71 but is for around 10 days with hopefully just milk/bread to buy inbetween. This leaves me £220.29 for the remainder of the month. Really need to check exactly when I get paid in January;)

Can I join in please? I'm decluttering at the mo and as I can't shut my pantry door and my freezer is chocka I think I need to eat the food I own!

I'd like to sign up for £40 for the month.

I only realistically need to buy milk each week because I have so much veg and meat in the freezer and a pantry full of stuff. So I'm going to see how low I can go to get a decluttering, money saving start to the new year.
