  • First shop trip out of the budget today and I bought:
    4 mini Christmas puddings @ £0.37 dated BB March2014!
    2 Aero Christmas trees @ £0.21
2 'my purple one' (Quality street big bar thingies) @ £0.21
    1 pack of 6 oven bottom muffins @ £1.00

    Total spend £3.32

And the puddings have been stashed away for next year :)

Having taken stock of what we have in, meal plans (incl expected take outs/meals out) etc I should be able to get by only buying:

    Ham
    Bread Rolls
    Frozen veggies
    Milk
    Flour
    Chocolate chips
    Baking butter/marg
    Squash
    2 x cola
    Baking potatoes
    4 X Baked beans

so approx £20! Then there will be approx £30 spent on take out/meals out

    Hmm hopeful thinking maybe?

I'd like to aim for £150 in January. I was almost £50 under budget in December, and have gone though and restocked our freezer. I'm aiming to make better use of our slow cooker, and also to eat more soups. And to start saying 'no' to Hubbs when we're shopping together. We would have been under budget so much more in December if I had done this...

  • Hi! I haven't been here for a long time (a couple of years now, back when I was a struggling student - I'm a struggling teacher instead now), but I'm back again and ready to go... I've just fought my way through my bank statement, looking at where my money disappears - I was convinced I had around £400 a month after bills and rent etc, turns out, it's closer to £550!!!

Obviously that extra cash is disappearing somewhere, and this year, my plan is to find it and save it. I'm in the very lucky position of having no debt other than my student loan and an over draft that I'll be clearing this month, so it's about time I started feeding my savings account. I've decided to start here - with a budget!

I live on my own M-F, and spend weekends with my boyfriend, either at mine or his, and this month, I'll be allowing myself £150 for January, starting now until payday (25th).

I'm also aiming for lots of NSDs - I'll target for 10, and see how it goes.

    Rambling over, happy budgeting everyone!

  • Can I go down for €250 please?
Back to pre-holidays levels again. Hoping to trim a little over the next few months as am very broke right now. It'll cover food, drinks (except alcohol), cleaning/household products and toiletries (with the exception of my nice face cream) for the two of us, eating mostly organically.

Looks highly likely that we'll be moving house in 2013, so I need to start cracking on the pantry and freezer. Plenty of creative meals ahead!

  • Good afternoon everyone.
My challenge starts tomorrow. Hopefully i will have a few nsd's.
My Mum and Dad came round today. They had won a £30 voucher for a local butchers in a Christmas draw. They came with 1lb sausages, 1lb of best mince, 1lb of liver and 3 big pork steaks for me because i always give them bits and pieces off the allotment and give them eggs.
2 quick questions if anyone can help. I have cooked potatoes and leeks in the fridge, been there since Saturday tea, leftovers. Will they still be ok for me to use, want to make soup. I have a few pasties dated use by 30/12/12, will they still be ok to put in the freezer? Thanks in advance.
    Good luck to all.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2013!

:)Spent £23.19 in Aldis (got 3 bags of 20p parsnips yum) and spent £25 in farmfoods but have fully stocked my freezer and used my £2.50 off voucher. So that should last me hopefully the rest of the month, then I just need to buy fresh stuff.
