Just got an e-mail with a £12 off of a £60 online shop at Tesco. I've never bought from them before (other than a few of the massively marked down items at the local Tesco Express). Our typical budget for a month is £50, so if I can get all we need, I think it will be worth it. Thing is, how much does delivery typically cost? I don't want the delivery cost to eat the discount!

bluegreen sorry, just read your list. If you can do part of your shop at !idl or a!di you'll save quite a bit. More to spend on the wedding then!

Bought some items off your list there:

    Butternut squash £1 per kg
    Carrots 1 kg. 69p
    Bag mixed peppers. 89p
    4 salmon fillets. £4.89
    Milk, 4 litres. £1

But I'm lucky enough to have one of the big 4 within walking distance and !id! 5 mins drive away which makes price comparison a lot easier!

Oooh, thanks a lot! I've been wanting to try L*dl or A*di but been put off by sheer laziness - the L*dl is a 25 minute walk, all through a long dark tunnel so not convinced I'll ever get around to that as I'd have to walk back with my shopping!

The A*di is much farther away really but handier as I can get a train to next door to it (have a transport pass so wouldn't cost) - OK, I will man up and give it a go this weekend! Plus point is anything I can't get, my regular Mr M is at the other train station I get off at to go home. So not actually that inconvenient to do two shops. Thanks for giving me a talking-to :D

TEscos tonight on the way home there was some reduced half fat cheddar at £1 something i put it back. went down to the next section and there was some 400gr creamfield mature @1.35 hmm (there was about 15-18 packs) so i pick up another packet and this one says 75 pence... result i know it not as good as 25p for 240gr but 75 pence is better than the deal i was going to get at lidl.....

Just a note to say have you considered baby led weaning? You don't have to go out of your way to buy anything different, they go straight to solids and just eat what you eat! I found it far less stressful and much more fun! :) Check out https://www.letyourbabiesfeedthemselves.com if you are interested x

Just bookmarked this for DD. Grandson is now 6 months and she's just started weaning him. I showed it her and she said the health visitors were very much in support of this now :) Said she'll have a read of it, so thanks Tales 17 :)

I spent £8.90 having gone to M for bread and milk. I spent the majority of it on a pile of reduced food. All of which is in the freezer now. Except the bread and the milk. They have 4pt for £1 too.

I was meant to be emptying out the freezer as it desperately needs defrosting. Oops.

Very pleased to her that health visitors are supporting this.

Its been 45 years since mine were weaned and they always had what we were eating. Thinking about it now even if I could have afforded special baby food my Nan and my Mum would have had sometinng to say about it and I wouldnt have dared.

2 NSDs for me. Almost caved to the urge of popping to local shop for sweet treats, but instead tried a recipe for microwave banana pudding using stuff I had in already: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/408657/microwave-banana-pudding
It turned out really well, great for using up the ratty bananas left at the bottom of the bowl :-) Hoping for more NSDs til wknd to stay on target - must resist!!!!!!!

Another shop today, siggy updated. I think I need to calm down a bit now. Have stocked up heavily on Eas*yo* yoghurt which was all on offer. I can now make our breakfast smoothies with ease for the next couple of months. I also needed, salad, sauces, spread, bicarb, wet wipes and milk. Ry*ita various types on offer for £1 at MrT

Still have around a sack and one third of potatoes and loads of onions. Have begun to re-stock the freezer with some HM goodies. So far Lasagne, Lamb Meatballs & Cous Cous, Chicken Curry & Rice and some YS bread.

Made a Lasagne for tea and forgot to have some of yesterday's HM soup, so will have that tomorrow. Also made a kilo of eas*yo* yoghurt and some HM Haslet for DHs packed lunches.

Tomorrow the cake tin will need replenishing. Have now finished all the Xmas treats. Not sure what to make yet but DH is easy to please -he loves all cake.

    Keep warm and well everyone.

  • Thanks for all the encouragement to do baby led weaning. I've been a bit worried about the choking risk of eating solid food but yes the idea of eating normal food does sound natural and I will give it some serious thought.

    No problem! :)

There is a good Facebook page for her to join that is connected to the site, very up to date and loads of advice on there for any questions she may have!

My daughter is 20 months old this week and eats pretty much anything, she had her first homemade chicken curry at 6.5 months and loved it! (even if she was just gumming everything lol!):rotfl:
