Lunch with Colleagues - don't know what to do

Yes! hopefully what goes around comes around, she is certainly whittling down her networking and socialising opportunities.
Blimey - Thingy is hard-faced, isn't she?! And very thick-skinned, too! To keep ripping people off - for shame!0 -
Thingy sounds like a vile, nasty piece of work according to these actions and I applaud your maturity gibson.0

Yes all this Meritaten, but having had a run in before my hands are quite tied. Que Sera Sera
I know what you mean - but this time you would have the backing of at least 8 other people - plus independent witnesses.
tbh, this really is down to 'everybody' at that lunch! not just you. The others should really be saying to her to reimburse you for the tip at least. To let her get away with this is wrong.
oh and your colleague isnt helping by passing on gossip to you while not suggesting a solution to the situation.0 -
Hard to walk away but I guess it helps to have another colleague aware of the situation.
I'm not sure I'd be able to let it go!0 -
I can't help thinking that you haven't done anyone any favours. This kind of person will do this until she is stopped and needs to be confronted about it.
Remember: the world is a dangerous place not because people do evil things, but because good people stand back and do nothing.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I hope Karma bites "Thingy" in the a*rse, tbh. I went for a meal years ago with a group of friends - one "friend" (who I haven't spoken to in years...pretty much gave up on her after this incident) bought along her new boyfriend. We all had a lovely meal, but at the end of it her boyfriend just flat out refused to pay his share. My "friend" wouldn't cover him either so the rest of us all had to chip in extra. To say I was not impressed would be an understatement. Unfortunately I was quite young then (18 ish) and didn't want to rock the boat - nowadays I would have said something, though I appreciate with work colleagues that certain issues have to be handled more sensitively.0

Why aren't you asking for the £30 back? I would e-mail her something like:
"I've checked with the others who were at the lunch yesterday, and they've all said they left xx extra for a tip. Could you reimburse me for the £30 tip I gave to the restaurant this morning, please?"
Or (if you think she might refuse on the ground that it was your choice to give the restaurant £30), you could say that since she didn't pass the additional money onto the restaurant as tips, you and your colleagues would each like their £xx back.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Revenge is a dish best served cold.....
May be you should invite her to another meal and leave her with the bill...
I can think of many ways of exacting revenge, and all of them are very very satisfying !0 -
I read this thread and my first instinct is to side with the op as many have....however, I have been the person on the other side of a thread (opinion unheard) and totally understand the massive difference one persons side of a story can be to another's....therefore I will not pass judgement, but will echo the thoughts of others that have mentioned that op has a very one sided view of the person referred to as "thingy"... Who could be your friend/mum/wife and may have her own version of events xx0
