  • Just to make clear, i want to phone them just to see how much of a joke they are/if they are as bad as some say.
If i do call it will be on my own time ( ie when im not doing much else) and not at my own cost.

All you will get if you ever get though is some work experiance/min wage people whom have been fed a pack of lies from the management and won't be able to do anything of much use.

Whats the point of asking if you arent going to listen?

There is something very strange and not quite right with this whole thread!
  • I also recently got a parking fine from CP Plus Ltd and was about to pay it when I decided to take a look on here first.

After reading the replies I had decided to 'ignore' the charge and not pay the 'fine', however, having read the guide on MSE on what to do, it suggests disputing 'UNFAIR' tickets; I'm not sure that mine was issued 'unfairly' per se.

My situation occurred in a hospital car-park where I took my elderly mother who uses a wheelchair to have an eye operation. Unfortunately, my mother doesn't have a blue badge, still, I decided to park in a disabled bay, as really that's what they are there for (it's impossible to decamp a large elderly lady into a wheelchair using normal bays - moreover, the journey from a normal bay to the entrance is usually not wheelchair friendly).

The fine is £20 (going to £40 after 14 days). So, what should I do?

(Not sure if I should start a new thread or not, so apologies if I'm hijacking this thread - I'm a newby!).

It's not a fine, so please don't think of it as such, what you have is an invoice for an alleged breach of contract, the only way it would be enforceable is through the small claims, CP Plus never do court ever! So the advice is to ignore them completely.

But make a complaint to the hospital, they are in breach of the equalties act 2010, but they won't know that until you inform them, explain the situation and provide proof if you wish that your mum was having an OP.

Insist that they get this cancelled otherwise you will issue a claim for said breach. They must make reasonable adjustments for disabled patients whether or not they have a blue badge.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Let the hospital know that you had a disabled person with you, and that they should cancel the ticket, they will probably fob you off with the car park isnt our responsability etc etc, but they are responsable for the actions of their agents, in this case CP plus, you should also inform CP plus of this, and tell them and the hospital - dont as them, tell them to cancel the parking invoice imediatly or you will consider takign action agains thte hospital and their agnts ( cp plus) for a breach of the equalities act and harrasment.

    As for the original thread/topic...
contacting Cp plus via phone will get no where, the people who work for car parking companies ( lower down the scale) largely fall into three categories:
1: those who realy do beleive that the tickets/fines are legitimate and are fully backed up by the law and beleive all the stuff that management spouts. ( ive worked alongside some of these - whilst working in car park areas myslef at large events)
    2: miserable gits
3: those who are just doing it as a job out of desparation.

The service area will also just fob you off with a nothing to do with us mate you need to appeal the "fine" to cp plus as they look after the car park.

By all means try to comunicate with them, but you would get more sense from a 1 year old baby/todler.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"
  • Thanks for the advice! I will write to the hospital and ask them to cancel the parking invoice. Should they refuse, I will simply ignore any further communications from CP Plus Ltd.

How do you think I should word the email? Perhaps something like this?:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: CP Plus Limited Charge Notice No.: 0000000

I write to you requesting that you cancel the above Charge Notice issued by CP Plus Ltd. The notice was issued whilst escorting my disabled, elderly mother to an eye operation recently at your hospital. My mother is a wheelchair user and as such completely warrants the use of a disabled parking bay in a private car-park. These facts can be substantiated by the staff on duty that day.

Please confirm in writing within seven days of this letter, that the above has been cancelled. Should this confirmation not be forthcoming, I shall have no option but to issue a claim against the hospital for a breach of the Equalities Act 2010. I would like to remind you that you are responsible for the action of your agents (in this case, CP Plus Ltd), therefore the liability falls with the hospital.

On another note, I feel it important to convey that the care received at the hospital has so far been exemplary.

    Yours sincerely,

    ....
