Real-life MMD: Who should pay the parking fine?

Pay the fine as obviously you have done this frequently and inconvenienced other people. Do you also park in bays reserved for BB holders?0

I asked for an unnecessary lift once, causing my driver friend to lose his original parking space and having to park in a spot where he wasn't sure whether he'd get fined or not. I was equally clueless, and as there wasn't anywhere else near by we decided to risk it.
Come the next morning, we found he'd been fined and he politely asked me whether I would contribute to the cost. I did feel I was partly to blame so we split it.
The way I see it, she's your mum and she earns more than you, so you could always ask whether she's willing to put some money towards it.0 -
Are you kidding?!
I agree with the rest of the forumites here - pay up!
If money really is so tight, and your Mum is as flush as you say, perhaps you could ask her for a loan so that you can pay it within the deadline, but the responsibility is yours and yours alone.
You parked illegally, you finally got caught. It could've happened on any of your previous trips to that supermarket.

As the registered owner of the vehicle you are responsible for any Penalty Charge Notices. Also as a motorist it is your responsibility to take notice of all traffic signs and road markings and to drive (and park) accordingly.0

Similar thing really did happen to me. I took the hit as I was in control of the decision as to where to park. Pay up soon and get 50% discount. Mention it to Mum and you might get a contribution.0

Why doesn't anyone talk to each other any more? All these questions asked each week would be quite simply resolved by talking, communicating etc
TALK TO YOUR MUM0 -
Morally you should pay up.
Legally -what does it say on the 'fine' -does it say 'parking charge notice'?
If so, ignore it.
It's an invitation to pay, not a fine and has no legal standing.
If it was issued by the council, railway etc it will say 'penalty charge notice' on it those you DO have to pay.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -
Pay the fine.
What a sob story.
You love your mother yet you want her to pay.
I think you love money more.0 -
I'd definitely spank your backside raw for even the suggestion, if I was your mama.

Take note of what timbo58 has to say... is this a statutory Penalty Charge Notice, payable to the local council, which will be registered as a fine (with 50% uplift) with the local Magistrates' Court if unpaid?
If so, then read all of the submissions here about the morality of who should pay.
But if it is not, and this is simply a "threat-o-gram" from a private company (and £110 seems to be very expensive for a statutory PCN) then IGNORE IT COMPLETELY - its status in law is simply that of an invoice, an invitation to pay, and there are excellent notes for guidance on a number of web sites, including this one, as well as at pepipoo.com - one such guide is here.
Ignore any mention of bailiffs, debt collectors, or whatever... none of these remedies are available to anyone unless and until an alleged debt is the subject of County Court proceedings, and believe me, it isn't going to go anywhere near a County Court, because the parking companies know that they will lose, following a binding decision of the Upper Tier Tribunal in Vehicle Control Services and Her Majesty’s Commissioners of Revenue and Customs [2012 UK UT130 (TCC)].
Following that judgement, it is crystal clear that there can be no legal contract between a motorist and a parking enforcement company... and any action for damages must be commenced by the landowner or by a tenant with the explicit right of occupation of the private land in question.0
