Real-life MMD: Who should pay the parking fine?
Comments
-
Nope your fault you parked illegally. You should have just said no if you couldn't be bothered to park properly and help out.0

Sorry, but you must pay the fine, just the same as if you were caught speeding under similar circumstances. Please don't blame your Mum for this: you never know - if you're really nice to her she might offer off her own bat to pay half of the fine. Next time, park legally and walk the distance - it will be better for your blood pressure!0

You said you've been there many ones before so you obviously know where it's legal to park and not. And you've clearly done it more than once and you've finally been caught.
Learn your lesson, take responsibility for your own actions and the damn fine yourself!
Also, the fact your mum has a comfortable living and you don't is NOT her fault. It's your choice. Don't take advantage of that.0 -
Your ticket, not your mum's so pay it. Why don't you consider charging the workmen instead of your mum ? It was them who caused the depletion of your mum's snack items ! !0

I feel quite bad for you as you were doing her a favour at the time, but that's really beside the point. You've been fined for parking in a loading bay, which you can't park in. This was your decision, as driver.
I once got stung a £75 fee for staying over 2 hours in a shop's car park because I was having lunch with a friend who was going through a tough time and needed to chat a little longer than I anticipated - we're normally done in an hour. I wasn't worried, because I hadn't heard of anyone being fined for staying there over two hours before and people regularly suggested that shop as somewhere to park for a day's shopping. Would this exempt me from the fee? Should I have sent the fine to my friend for having too much to say that afternoon? Of course not, I learned from my mistake and use the multistorey now!
You could ask your mum if she'd mind helping out, nicely, perhaps with a crocodile tear in your eye if you think it will help. But as to who *should* pay the fine - you, of course.0 -
We all should take responsibility for our own actions.0

I've missed the train reading this stuff, so it's your fault and you should buy me a new ticket!0

Get your mum to knock it off the builders bill. After all, you were getting the biscuits to replace the ones that they had eaten.
The cost of the fine may even be cheaper than it would have cost them in lost working time to get their own biscuits - so you'd actually be doing them a favour, maybe?
Or, you could write to the parking enforcement people and plead your case. If you tell them the same story exactly as you've written it here then they may just let you off the parking fine. I'm sure they'd understand the biscuit emergency.0
