the bad news is that santader a beginning to be a telephone pest i had a paypal credit card i just missed the payment last week it took them only 2 days to start calling and the credit card bill is not due to be updated till tomorrow. at least they are only calling on my mobile which i ignore if i do not recognize the number.

  • Room for another one :) I'd love to be debt free by the end of 2015! I really want to get into property and so the debt needs to go! We've just had to buy a new car as we have another baby due in June but really hoping to start clearing all the debt soon! Going to start by taking advantage of ebay free listing this weekend.

  • Welcome to the thread natterjack and overtherainbow!
And big waves to everyone else! Well done Dolly on clearing so much debt already this year!

All has been quiet here. Just waiting for payday to come around again on Thursday so I can make some payments.
In the meanwhile, I have been busying myself googling about developing Personal Financial Goals and a Personal Financial Plan for the future (20+ years). Found a lot of interesting reading online and it has kept me motivated and focussed! Am just getting my head around the idea that once I am debt-free I should try and do some long-term saving each year. As in money you save and don't touch - such an alien concept to me!!! I am a spender by nature!!

Still, looking at the financial goals stuff made me realise that I do need to work out in advance how I am going to pay for things I will need/want in the short-term future. I did up a spreadsheet :eek::eek: (so not like me!) for 2013 with an estimate of where my income would need to go for each fortnight, how much I could put off debts, how much I should set aside for a car fund (for 2014), how I will budget for some other expenses/weddings (x5) etc for the year. At the end, I felt like an obsessive freak!!! :rotfl:But I also felt really good, and in control of the coming year, so I am really happy about that!

No other much news. I started an application to switch my CC balance to a 0% for 6 mths CC in another bank yesterday. I need to supply them with copious more paperwork/statements etc, but it is a start.

I am taking one of the cats to the vet on Friday, and crossing my fingers that it won't cost a fortune. He is missing teeth and his gums have black blotches, he is drooling gunge and not eating very well. I've been putting off taking him, partly because he is semi-feral and I am dreading getting him into the carrier and how he will behave when I let him out of it at the vet (!) but also because of the cost. But they've said they can do a payment plan, so that's a relief!

Right - enough blather from me! Goodnight all,
    Castle x

  • Thanks for the update Castlelough! I enjoyed reading it.:j
Welcome also to Natterjack and overtherainbow:T It's great your on board with our little thread. Hi to everyone else!

A lot of what you said Castlelough rung a bell with me. The way I see it, we are in the first phase of our transformation - we need to deal with the debt. Once this is done, we need to develop healthy habits in relation to money for the rest of our lives. I have never saved in my life and the concept of saving a healthy amount of money each year is a really alien concept for me too! But one which I would like to do! I am so proud of myself for saving £450 to my ESF. It's the first time I've ever had one and it feels good. I'm sure I sleep better at night! :rotfl:It's all a bit like losing weight - you get it off and then you are supposed to keep it off. If you are anything like me, I've done this a few times and it's went back on. However, this week I lost 4lbs!!!! I couldn't believe it. It's probably the stress of the new job. LOL but I wasn't complaining. My new job is going great. I'm really feeling good and I'm managing what's getting flung at me. I'm getting on with my new boss and colleagues which is important to me. My boss has a reputation for being a bit of a mare but we get on well which is great. He keeps mentioning my appearance which is a bit off putting, not in a weird uncomfortable way but more like 'you look different today' (has said this several times) and ' thats a nice outfit'. don't get me wrong, it's nice to be noticed but I'm just not used to the attention LOL and he reminds me of my dad!

Debt wise, I'm still waiting until the 22nd but I have paid my minimum payments so should see a wee difference. One of the things I've done is set up a standing order to pay an extra £20 a month to one of my credit cards, it's not much but as soon as it gets taken with all the other DD's at the start of the month I don't miss it. I'm going to start paying my dear dad back at the end of the month - £500 per month - so that is going to have a big dent in my debt - yay!

Speak soon all and Happy Valentine's Day to everyone for tomorrow! MWAH!:p
