Hey all. Epic fail so far this year. Month 1 we get new car car to accommodate new baby. Month 2 we are stupid and buy a dyson. Month 3 (now) we have to buy ds first bed and all bits to go with it. Also mot month. And now council tax has gone out when we thought it was a free month. We have £140 to get us to the end of the month and through the mot :( luckily petrol tank is full and shopping has been accounted for. Going to ebay as much as I can. I always end up using the ebay to get us by though :(

Well my hope is to become debt free well c. cards owed 12816.26 when I had my LBM on 14th feb this yr finding it hard then just to meet min repayments, now got a lodger not sure how long but everything getting thrown at this debt.
Anyway my history took a sizeable amount of debt onto my credit card after split up 3 yrs ago only way out. Then added to it, bad yr car repairs nearly 2k and house expenditure on new little pad.

Single Bridget Jones, in her fifties, probably 2st overweight but diet can weight till it gets bit warmer, Just eating healthy almost at mo and only drinking weekends lol

2015 would be a reasonable target date. Impressed and motivated reading everyone's posts dieting and paying debt back. Not that brave yet, baby steps.

Paid off 848.37/12846.26 now 11997.62 today. Love being under 12K ;-)
Hoping I am now too late in join in !

  • Hope you are all well my lovelies.

Kinda a wee bit behind this month with my over payments but I am still really determined.

Anything I miss out in the next few months up until August 2012 I will try to pay in extra from September 2012 onwards.

I think I can still be debt free in the same time.

I haven't had any mishaps in relation to the debt so its still really under control.

The only thing I haven't got under control in the diet!!!

I am really trying though now & I know that its just crazy how I can continue to eat knowing that its making me unhappy.

Anyway off for a wee wander round the boards.

  • WOW! A stone in 6 weeks - Please let me be lucky - you need to share your tips! I have 'restarted' today and decided to give it 110% - cut out all the crap and try and exercise a bit more. We know what we need to do, it's just actually doing it!

I'm doing Slimming World NYD, but the 'old' Green plan as I'm veggie not the new extra easy plan. I'm now on 18lbs in 8 weeks :j I'm also at the gym 3 times per week for free as DH's carer :T.

On the money front, debt stands at £10,249 so hoping to be sub £9k next month :D Xx

  • Hey guys and gals - it's been very quiet in here recently! How's everyone doing? Just trucking on I presume! Life is busy here....too many nights out to get stuck into my debt and diet! But hey, life must go on whether £55K in debt or not!!! LOL I am trying very hard but get very frustrated and disheartened with my lack of progress. Got my first wage last month in my new job and the extra I made went in one hand and out of the other - I feel like 'what's the point'? I've been having this thought a lot lately - can't see light at the end of the tunnel, it's so hard, poor me, blah blah blah - it's all c**p really because we got ourselves into this mess and we need to get out of it.

Diet not going well either! Please-let-me-be-lucky - Im rejoining SW on Weds and I'm going to stick to the old red/green plan. I can't lose weight on the EE plan as my portions are too big (I also have PCOS so I need to reduce my carb intake). I'm really wanting to get to goal this year! I lost 5 stones for my wedding in 2009 with SW so I know I can do it!

  • I know how you feel NYD,I get sooo frustrated too,I just feel the journey is taking too long. I started this slog in jan 2012 and all last year I was really fired up and motivated but I feel the the first few months of this year that I have lost my focus a bit and life keeps getting in the way(because I let it) for paying back more. So I'm not really on track for being debt free by dec 2015 and i need to catch this up some how. I seem to do better when I have less money but when I have extra I just spend it,nobody to blame except myself really.
My loan payment has gone out again and my debts have fallen to £23984.01 meaning I have now repaid a quarter of what I originally owed last January which I should be feeling good about but knowing I'm not on track had taking the shine off it. So I have given myself a good talking to,wrists slapped etc and my new mantra is I must do better .
Hope everyone has a Happy Easter x
