    Hi New York,

Yes it has been a pain for the last 90 months, but I have been lucky to have the support of a great family, who have been given me loads of support both financially (the odd £30 here and there) and emotionally.

What I more worried about is how I am going to be able to cope with the extra money ! - but thats a nice problem !.

Oh dear, I thought I had posted earlier on!

Firstly: :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer: for Antonic!!! Are you the first to leave us? How inspiring to see somebody achieving their goal! Congratulations!!!

NYD: Best of luck with the OD! Definitely a good choice - it improves your credit standing with the bank to get out of it and shows you can live within your income... DH had a letter this week from the bank saying they were just pulling the OD facility from his account from tomorrow. It's a business account OD for €1000, and he had cheques written to clear out of it. He was raging, but there was no compromising with the bank. He had to borrow the money from his mother to cope with the loss of OD. Whatever about your other debts the OD agreement can be a bit fragile, so it's a great idea to get rid of it! Good for you!

    Night all!

Just managed to get another 0% free card with a credit limit of £9300 so that is great news for our debt busting plan! I'm still a bit perplexed why the banks are still giving me cards when I already have 5, a personal loan and a mortgage but I'm not complaining! The plan is to pay off 2 cards (Nationwide and Creation) and transfer £3K to the halifax card. This will mean I have 4 cards (2 on 0% deals, 1 on 9.9% and 1 on 6.8%) rather than 6 cards. I tried to get the DH one too and even though it said he would be accepted, they declined him : ( One of his cards is the most costly at 24.9% and we are only paying literally pennies off the actual balance each month because I am focusing on paying my dad and the overdraft back at the moment. Anyway, thought I would share my good news with you! I was supposed to be out shopping today with a friend but we postponed it due to the weather - a little bit more I have managed to save!!! LOL NYD x

Hey Castle - I am hearing more and more about banks withdrawing the overdraft facility and it's really something I would wish to avoid at all costs. I can't borrow off my parents anymore because they have both helped me signficantly in the past and I don't want to abuse this (I have paid my mum back in full and have a payment plan set up with my dad - £500 per month) and if I was ever in a really emergency in the future I would hope they could help me. There is something about me also wanting to now take responsibility for my own finances (or our own finances shoudl I say) and I can now see that getting family members involved really should be the last resort. I never want to involve friends in borrowing money because I have seen what it can do to friendships. I've had an overdraft since I was a student and I graduated in 2001 so I think I should now be getting myself sorted. I don't want to give it up completely, even though I should, because my DH is hoping to go to uni next year and I don't want to be stuck in a position where we are totally out of cash. I would rather use the OD than a credit card, even though it is still a form of debt. I wish I had had my LBM years ago instead of waiting 16 years :( No wonder I am in £50K worth of debt (well, really it's only £25K because it's joint but still , it's shocking!!)

I would like to join you. I am currently approx 8K in debt. This consists of a couple of Provident loans and several credit cards. I am doing the 1% challenge and the first Provident loan is due to be paid off in July which will give me an extra £160 a month to make on debt repayments.
Saving for Christmas 2017 £120/£400
