    hello hello!!

right so I've started a spend diary and its going ok, making my pack lunches for work and have swapped my weekly shop to Lidl's now, saving £20 a week.

I have also shut down my old bank accounts that I didnt use, but had tempting overdrafts. I have cancelled one of my credit cards after transfering to 0% too.

    YAY!

  • Thanks castlelough just taking one month at a time for now. something always seem to come along though just when you think you are in control. OH had a knock in the car last month so have had to scrimp and try and find funds to get another car. Managed to pick one up for £540 so tight month. Was hoping to go to london for 3 days with my OH and 9yr old son but will have to do with just a day trip. Holidays can go on hold i know but always try and go for cheap ones like sun hols or get dad to tow his caravan somewhere cheap. Just nice to have one week a year to look forward to and nice to get away as a family. Staying positive though because London is not going anywhere but my debt is.

    Hello rockm87
good ideal must do a spend diary sometimes i get money out and think where did that go.
I get discount at A*** so always do my main shop there but also use farmfoods/iceland/lidl/poundshop and sometimes home bargains(the others are all together in a 5 min drive)
I usually do a big shop once a fortnight( OH gets paid two weekly) and then a top up shop the other week(mainly fresh stuff). Find it hard to stay in budget though.
note to self do not go shopping without meal planning and list!

    Enough rambling on for now.

  • After massive amounts of procrastination and spending like there's no tomorrow attitude, I've given myself a right good kick up the but. Debt is now £18,365.73 now but I feel like I'm on top of things, so I'm back to declare war on this debt once and for all. I took out a loan as I find it much easier to manage things. Then the rest of the debt has been put onto 0% credit cards as interest-bearing cc's just didn't make any sense whatsoever.

I've started making the loan payments, paid off one cc with £109 balance, and the other is £7486.96.

The plan is to finish paying the small cc, then chuck as much money on the £7k one, then make as many overpayments on the loan as is possible. This approach feels much more manageable. I had 6 credit cards before with small amounts on and my head was swimming. I can deal with this, so even though the amounts have increased I'm still positive. I don't know if I'll make the 2015 date, but I'll be heading that way - even if I just aim to get rid of the cc's by then that is a goal worth aiming for.

Hope everyone is happy and doing well. Frugalling hugs to all who need them. x
  • hi miss empty piggy bank

You seem to have a plan and that's always a good thing to have.
If you don't manage DF in 2015 you will certainly be well on your way.
Wishing you all the best for the journey ahead.
