  • Just wanted to share that I've met my first target and I am so happy and proud. :)

I set a target of £15, 000 and today made all my payments and have reached my target (and a little bit extra) in the last 12 months since my LBM.

Thank you to everyone for your help, support, encouragement, hugs, advice and kicks up the bum when I need it!!!

  • Gee, it's really quiet in here these days!!! Is everyone quietly debt busting or is this thread long gone? I've posted twice with no replies so thinking that I might not bother again.....

Hiya! I've been away for ages, fallen well and truly off the wagon. Our debt is pretty much what it was a year ago and our DFD is now late 2016. :( But I'm back and trying to get my backside in gear to sort this out once and for all -have worked out I'm looking at 1000 days to clear 38 and a bit grand

Hi Ostrich - welcome back and well done for coming back with a vow to sort out the debts. We are all here for everyone so will support you every step of the way! I have had a good year, met my target of £15K but got a long way to go....still over £42, 000 to shift (combined debts with DH) but we will get there.

My DFD is Mar/Apr 2015 give or take. I could be longer but if I am good it could be sooner.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • Hi (sneaks back in)

I am so so sorry guys & gals.

Started this thread then kinda went AWOL.

Hope you are all well & kicking that debts a$$.

I have been debt busting promise just I don't know what happened it just got to the point last week when I thought why the heck have I not been on MSE. I love this forum!!

Had quite a busy year & I have just been laid off - bad times.

But every cloud has a silver lining, my final pay will clear all of my debt. So I will be debt free hopefully on Friday.

I am also using this final wage to learn how to drive. Passed my theory last week & had my first lesson today.

Would love to be driving for February time.

Anyway just wanted to say hi again to everyone & best of luck to you all on your debt busting journey.

Oh & sorry again for abandoning you all like that.

    Hi All
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all

The news from my end this year has been a roller coaster for me this year so many ups and downs.
First the downs was having to admit defeat on my finances and calling in step-change to help me to get back on track and the battle with creditors.

the high point of the year is having a new job and the stability it has given me. Also not being a contractor anymore I now have the joy of a small pay rise, paid holidays and some generous company benefits.

my weight has had more ups and downs but thankfully more downs I am now close to my lowest weight in 3 years just 1/2 stone off the total now lost is 10st.

my current debt free date is April 2015 but that will change as I settle down in my new job and I can release more funds to bring the date closer.

So here to 2014 and also the good things that will come to all off us so that we can go forward with a brighter outlook and a spring in our financial step.
debt free as of 1/10/2014 and loving it :j
All done using YNAB and Bank tree.

  • Hi Storm Fisherman! WOW 10 stones off, that's amazing. I want to get 5 stones off in 2014, I've said that every year since 2010 but this year I really mean it, my weight is starting to get me down more than my finances!!! You have achieved so much in 2013. Here is to 2014 and all the success and happiness I hope it will bring. That is my wish for all of you.

Hi Gwengeth - of course you can join the thread - it gets a bit quiet in here but we are all 'long haulers' so many lurk in the background but we are all (hopefully) chipping away at our debt!!! WELCOME.x
