Hi guys!
Welcome to all the newcomers - we could do with some fresh blood around here to jazz us up!
NYD - well done on clearing so much debt in the past year!!! You are on track and focussed. That's wonderful news about the 0% credit cards. :-)
Storm Fisherman - it's great to hear such positivity from you! And well done on reviewing your debt free day!
Dolly Rocker - I must have missed your debt-free post! That is amazing news!!!!!
As for me, my debt has slowly been coming down by my regular monthly loan repayments, but to be honest, I've gotten a little complacent....My total debt has dropped below €5k and I have been careless for the last six months. I've been overspending and have not budgeted carefully. If I continue as I am I will be debtfree by August 2015. If I knuckle down a bit I could do it quicker!Debts: Credit Card: €6000 ---> €5050 Feb 25 \ Overdraft: Step 3/100
Savings: FF Fund: Step 23/100 \ CU: 3755/40000 -
You need some fresh blood? Well I offer myself to you!!!!
My only debt (besides a small mortgage) is a loan that Ive had forever. Over the years Ive just added to it, changed creditor etc etc and around April 2013 I had my LBM and started making overpayments. At it's highest it was £16000. At LBM it was £10000. I fell off the wagon and haven't made extra payments for 6 months.
The total of the loan is now £5544 and I want it gone before Dec '15
I have overhauled my budget and only use cash (except for household bills). I'm using the envelope system.
I mainly following the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps way to debt freedom.
Im a single Mum to 2 children, ds 11 and dd 4. Own a home and have a decent paying job. My children are my motivation. The biggest gift I could give them is for Mummy to be financially secure. I dream of having a huge savings fund for us, a further education fund for them both, paying for our next holiday with cash, our new car with cash. Teaching them how to handle money.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0 -
Hi Bublin!
You are very welcome!
You've already done so well on shifting that debt - keep up the good work, you're nearly there!
Great goals and aspirations listed there too! :beer:Debts: Credit Card: €6000 ---> €5050 Feb 25 \ Overdraft: Step 3/100

Would love to be debt free by the end of 2014 but I think that is not realistic. However, I'll aim for my DFD to be my 30th birthday (Mar 2015) so I'll join your challenge. Good luck everyone!0

Hi everyone! How are you all? I've been a bit absent but good to see some new people and some progress!
I'm still chipping away. Just got a 0% balance transfer card accepted, not for very much but it will reduce the interest on some of the other debt and hopefully save me about £150 by the time DFD comes!Debt: [STRIKE]£8652[/STRIKE]£8550:eek:
Honeymoon and post-job savings: £50/£1100,
DFD target: December 2015

I'd like to join this challenge please. My current DFD is March 2016, but I am aiming to make it several months earlier and before the end of 2015!
I'm 34 in 4 days, have 4 children and a small doggie called Jasper. I start university in October so need to tighten my belt (more).
I've got around £25k of debt in total! Crazy! I am paying off as much as I can do while still being able to buy the minimum amount of food per week. I still find myself frittering the occasional few pounds here and there (cakes for the family, sweets, stuff I forgot to buy so have to buy from local shop) and that has to stop.
In order to help me save some extra cash I will be starting to grow my veg next spring and am hoping to get some chickens, so a bit of initial outlay but it should work out cheaper in the long run.Highest debt: £25,702.08(estimated) DFD 29th August 2018 Paid £35.25
September Squirrels #27: debt paid £35.25/£500 ~ SFD 0/15 ~ Birthdays 0/£50 ~ Saved 0/£50 ~ Food £25.68/£250 ~ Food Bank 0/5 ~ Exercise 2/15 ~ Reflection 1/15

Hi There HomemadeMama! It's pretty quiet in here these days but I still check in now and then! Sounds like you are doing brilliantly with 4 kids too! Keep up the good work. I'm loving the idea of the chickens and veg
Well, my goals have changed so much since I started contributing to this thread. Originally, I was aiming to be debt free by December 2015 and support my husband to go to University to study radiography! He has since got a job with a bank and shelved his plans to go to uni and we found out we are going to have a baby in March 2015! Not so much a shock as it was planned but perhaps not as quickly as we thought!
With maternity pay and things for baby, this has extended our debt-free plans by 5-6 months or so hoping to be debt free by July 2016 but hopefully sooner.
I'll still be lurking around this thread to see how everyone is getting on!
I've learned so much from MSE that it truly has been a life saver. We used to be so careless with money and totally irresponsible, but now we budget for everything. We really are aiming for everything for the baby to be bought with cash, no credit. How things have changed!
Take care

Hi All
well my time has come to bow out
as off 1st September 2014 I made my last Payment to step-change almost 7 months earlier than predicted. what a massive relief to have some spare cash again
I am looking to start the much needed maintenance on the house and a new back garden fence and saving for a holiday next year.debt free as of 1/10/2014 and loving it :j
All done using YNAB and Bank tree.:cool:0 -
I would like to join this challenge to be debt free by Dec 2015.
We started with £37,000 in January 2008 and now we are at £8600.
It's tough going but although we are now both over 65 and not working we are going to continue chipping away at this every month. If we have no health issues we will get there.
We were silly in the past but our LBM came to us in December 2007 and we've not involved anybody else and cut out all holidays.
I would love some support on here and I will continue posting as we see the total getting smaller.I can't wait to get rid of this and feel free again.0
