Debt Free in 2015 - Who's with me?!?!?!?

It is great to see the number growing on here
I am sure we will prove a great support to each other over coming months
This is not definite or anything but I am trying to be optimistic and keep everything crossed that this comes through for us! At the moment our rent is £600 for a 3 bed semi-detached cottage in a village. We love the village, but have been falling out of love with the house for a while now, our landlord is hopeless, and our drive is like a bog (this is not an over-exaggeration, it is disgusting, I now have to tie carrier bags around each shoe and half way up my calf to get from our front door to my car without getting covered in mud!). So anyway, our friend's house is sitting empty, needs a bit of work, but nothing to major, just decorating, new carpets etc. My husband spoke to our friend today (currently working abroad) and said friend is keen for us to rent his house for initially £300 a month less than we pay now for first 6 months, then once house is ship shape £200 a month less for the rest of the time we are there. This would help us SO much in our debt-free mission. Contracts will be in place etc, we both appreciate this is important. It will also save us lots more money, as our village is not connected up to gas mains, so we have to buy oil, we can't shop around for deals on tv/phone etc as our village is so isolated only BT & Sky are available. This has so much potential to save us so much money! I am trying not to get my hopes up incase it doesn't come through!
What do people think? Bad idea? Good idea? all input welcome!

The new house sounds like a great idea. Much better for your friend than to have it lying empty too. Hope it works out.
Not much happening on the debt busting front for me. Need to concentrate on getting to the end if the month with all bills paid. This is the month when dc subs get paid for their clubsNumber of debts between us - 3 (2 @ 0%)0 -
Me neither!!!! Rubbish.
Sorry for the multiple posts - can anyone tell I'm just learning to use the quote button?! Next lesson - how to out multiple quotes in one post. Can any of you clever people shed any light?Deleted_User wrote: »I dont have a clue so I just stick to one quote per post LOL

To quote multiple posts, press the multiquote icon that shows as a pink and orange speech bubble on the first post(s) you want to quote (a tick will appear) and then on the final quote you wish to include, press the quote button as normal. All the posts will then appear in the reply box. Hope that helps XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

Hi all
Sorry for not posting last couple of days due to work commitments had 5 nsd in a row last week great result
weighed in yesterday not as bad as i thought only put on a stone in two months of not dieting:j
We went shopping last night to replenish the freezer so it is a big batch cook off tomorrow to refill it, We usually buy in bulk and have a Makro and a Bookers cash and carry card where we make full use of them to keep the cost of food bills down as its not easy on my diet as i have to be careful and keep to a low carb and low sugar diet(border line diabetic) which does limit what i can eat.:(
Anyway had a great walk on the south downs way today 8 miles ended up as walk leader as the original lead hurt his foot yesterday .
forgot to mention that i am not expecting any weigh-in results this weekend as it the first week but i hope we all have great loses to post up next weekenddebt free as of 1/10/2014 and loving it :j
All done using YNAB and Bank tree.:cool:0 -
Ooh thanks please-let-me-be-lucky, I knew there would be someone clever on here! I shall get practicing on the next opportunity...
Dolly Rocker sorry to hear you are still feeling poorly, sounds horrible :-( hope you feel better very soon, get lots of medicine inside you!!
Not great debt-busting news here I'm afraid. DH has just had to ask his parents for a very short term loan, as our delightful tenants have decided they aren't going to pay their rent for another week. We normally have enough to cover such eventualities, but as we had a HUGE bill for something at the end of December this has now left us short and so we've had to go to the parents. This is the first time we've asked for help in the 12 years we've been together and we are mortified, DH in particular. Hopefully the tenants will actually pay in a week and we can return it straightaway, but this has scared us both silly and made us realise that our first priority has to be making sure we have (and keep) a small emergency fund. Really sorry to waffle on, but its been one of those days:(:(

Och that's a nightmare about your tenants not paying you the rent on time!!
I would never do that - I might have loads of bills but I pay them on time LOL
Still not feeling any better hoping that I will have a good sleep tonight
No update on the debt front from me.
I am upto 3/180 NSD's so far.

Hi Ninja! I think this sounds like a great idea. Will you need to kit the house out with carpets though or will the owner do that? It sounds like a win win to me. the only thing I would ask you to think about is if something went wrong, could it affect your husband his friend's friendship? I never think it's a good idea to mix friendship with business due to the risk of this going wrong but if they are both up front about it, it should be ok.
