Good evening lovelies
Nice to see the numbers on this thread growing, the more the merrier I say.
Dolly rocker hope you're feeling a bit better and I hope your tumble dryer can be repaired under warranty. That would be fab if you could shave a year of your DFD too.
Well done shelski on getting rid of one of your debts,i bet that's a good feeling.
Well fairly quiet this end just waiting on statement from Mbna and rbs CC so I can update my signature again. Barclaycard payment will go out on the 6th. Done my supermarket shop for the week and only spent £57.67 of my £70 budget,so really pleased with that.
I'm checking my accounts every day to ensure I get to next payday(18th) without running out of money. I have dd's 6th birthday on the 18th but I have said no party and instead will go to cinema and for lunch on the 19th. The old me would have just whacked a few hundred pounds on the CC to fund a party so happy with my willpower there too. Anyway enough of my ramblings, hope everyone had a cheap and cheerful day. Thanks for the pep talk people, I needed it!
Speaking of setbacks, our cars have proved a nightmare since we got back from honeymoon 2 weeks ago, consequently I am having to use my hubby's car to get me to work this week and it is eating my petrol money (see earlier post on my SOA) so I am worrying how I am going to find petrol money to see me through until the end of the month (if it hadn't been for this I would have been fine this month!). I don't know why I am worrying really as hubby is going to sort me out when he gets paid on Monday, but even so, we could have used that money to pay a few of the smaller debts off, sigh!
Anyway, on a more positive note, I have discovered I can shave off another £25.48 from my monthly outgoings by cancelling lovefilm, my charity donation to WRVS (feel guilty about this one, but charity begins at home right?!) and creditexpert (this is increasing to £9.99 at the end of this month). Another £300 a year saves, good times!
Also, I had to buy cat biscuits tonight for the month for our cat. I had a voucher from Tesco offering 60 extra clubcard points if I bought Whiskas (her usual food). But I took a good look at the prices on the shelves and realised that if I bought Tesco own brand I could get the same 4kg of cat food for almost half the price of Whiskas! So another saving made there. I have also bought a small box of an uber cheap brand of cat food to see if she likes it, she has vacuumed it up this evening and seems to like it more than Tesco own, which is awesome as it is less than £1 a kilo! Bargain! I am afraid to say if we are having to pull our belts in then so will our cat too!!!
As a result of the car nightmare, it is looking highly unlikely that we will be able to pay very little, if any, of our debts off until our next paydays (mine is 28th of the month, his is 7th of the month). But we will certainly do our best.Co-op loan: £2672.38. £2886.64 / £5559.02

Me too! But I prefer to have accurate figures, so like to wait until the statement comes, so I know how much of the payment has gone to interest and how much had actually come off the debt first, before I post.Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -

I agree - everything helps, even though my little 2K balance transfer is also a drop in the ocean. Great news that you got accepted for 0% :T this gives me hope for the future.Debt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -

Well I signed up to my new car insurance last night and as I pay monthly I had to pay £70 which is leaving me really really tight this month but wanted to do it as it will save me £300 over the year:)
I bank with Halifax online and have opend up an instant online saving account, there are no fees or charges and can take money out/put in as I want. the interest rate is really poor but really its just a place for me to put any extra money away from my accounts so I dont spend it.
I also need to get my SU business off the ground as I love my crafting and signed up just before Christmas really to discount anything I buy but if I can start doing card classes it could well bring in some extra money.
I have alos written a letter to see if I can privately rent a house that will be up for rent soon, which if i can not only would it avoid costly estate agent fees I would save another £100 month on rent:T so fingers crossed, it may come to nothing but its only costing me the price of a stamp!£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -
Hey Everyone! It sounds like everyone is doing really well and trying to be savvy debt busters!!! Well done : ) January is off to a good start girls and gals! Some great ideas in there too
Well, I'm pleased too because my tummy problems have been pretty non-existent for the last 2 days (yay!) but I've not eaten very much fat at all or had a drop of alcohol so it's the way to go, if not completely boring!!! I've been pleased with myself because I've taken my lunch to work both Thursday and Friday - I know it's only 2 days but small steps eh and I always used to treat myself on a Friday so I think psychologically it was harder today because I expected to go to the work canteen (which serves quite tasty food) and get my usual baked potato etc - it not only saved my pocket but been good for my diet too! Have taken advice and started a spending diary to see where all those odds and sods go so that should be interesting and enlightening at the end of the month!!! Any more insight it's good in my humble opinion.
I too get paid monthly but my hubbie gets paid weekly so that helps our cash flow. I think updating my signature is going to be something that I will look forward to even if it is only on a monthly basis !!! So far this month only 3 credit card payments have been taken out of 7 and a loan payment but to be honest, it's mostly interest (soul destroying!) at the moment. I've paid £200 to my mum though so that is a good start. I have a clear plan in place though so that makes me feel better that I WILL tackle it and it won't be some far off distant date but in the next 3 years which makes me feel good.
One of my objectives was also not to throw out any fruit and veg. I am pleased to say that I have used up all my salad stuff and eaten all my fruit since the new year! The only thing I have left is a turnip and some carrots - think I'll cook up a pot of home made soup tomorrow!
So anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? I'm not feeling great (think I'm getting your woman flu Dolly Rocker) so gonna put my feet up but I'm applying for a new job so need to sort out my application form as it's due in on Tuesday. If I get it, it will be a £8K per year salary increase!! That would be lovely to get stuck into my debt!!!
