Well done on the AFD's and the NSD's :)

Oh and good news on the overtime too :D

    Have a nice day xx
  • Good morning,

Yippee! It's Thursday and that means cleaning day for me :jas much as I really want to stop and give it up, the money comes in handy.

Last night was my third AFD in a row, taking me up to 4 and my NSD's are now up to 5, so half way there on my target :D

Checked online banking and DH's expenses have been paid nothing else has happened on that score so, so far so good.

I know not a lot of people believe in these things but think I had a 'visit' last night from my dad, I had a strong smell of old nicotine like someone who's smoked for many years that its ingrained in their skin type smell :)

Anyway on to today, DD has Rainbows tonight and I'm back at the Juniors today normal time though so no overtime.

Have a good day everyone x
  • Good morning diary,

Wow! Awol again but to be fair it has been a rather busy few weeks.

Work wise, I've managed to get a lot of overtime :) and I've applied for a Catering Assistant job at the Juniors side as the lady that did that job has moved on to a cooks job. Initally it will be on a 6 month contract but having spoken to the lady she said she's unlikely to come back to her old job :D

On the other side, the lady I clean for is no more, long story but if I do get this other job I would have to give her up anyway.

Banking wise, we still have some money in the account, DH gets paid next Tuesday so need to try and make it last.

Have put some petrol in the car but now the weather is nicer, I plan on walking as much as I can with the kids.

Tumble drier hasn't been used this past few days either due to the nice weather :D

Need to nip to Tesco's at some point today to get a few bits but not aiming to spend a lot.

The bad news is that redundancies have started again DH's place, one of the other managers has been put on notice; DH has been at the company for longer than this other person and is hoping that this is in his favour. DH is going to ring his boss today and see if he is in any danger.

NSD's have been going okay but not the AFD's, this I need to reassess and get back up to speed.

I need to update the £2 and 20p savers threads and get them done but they'll have to wait a while.

On to this week, I'm at the Juniors from 10am today and tomorrow so 3 hours overtime for me, next months pay should be a bumper one lol Walking to school today and aiming for more days.

Right off to get motivated, lots to do x
  • Morning diary,

So it turns out that I won't get an interview for the Catering Assistant job, there is another lady who has applied who has more experience than me, I know who she is and to be honest I'm not surprised; she's a lovely lady and she would be perfect for it. My Line Manager said that if the lady wasnt suitable then she would offer it to me as we were the only ones that applied.

So no cleaning job and no increase in pay expect over time for the past few weeks, feeling rather deflated to say the least!

But I'm not giving up, there is a job out there somewhere for me, I just need to apply for everything I can find.

My manager has been off sick again so I've been called in to work early this week and possibly next week too, so overtime galore at the moment and will all help.

DH gets paid next week and I can't wait although due to the work situation I'm not going to be able to do the shopping order, so will need to try and do a small shop next week.

Walking to and from school has gone out of the window as well this week, but will change once my manager comes back.

Looking at the bank account and we may be ok this month, it'll be a tight one but we should scrape through.

I need to figure out how I can keep the momentum going, in between DH getting paid next week and him getting paid in June we have Half Term and the kids want to go up to see my mum.

Have a good day everyone x

thats annoying about the catering assistant job. at least you know its for a valid reason & not just because they dont want you.

try not to feel too deflated. are there any other cleaning hjobs going?

  • Morning diary,

Thank F it's Friday! What a long week it's been, it doesn't feel like we had Monday off at all.

Need to go to Tesco's or Sainsbury's today after work and get some bits but should be a NSD otherwise.

Aiming to walk home from school today with the kids, they've no clubs on so shouldn't be a problem.

Need to put some petrol in my car too, all this toing and froing to work and back my car is eating petrol.

I'm hoping that I've made enough money through OT that I can book my car in for a service, it really needs it and I'm worried that I will end up on my third year of it not being done.

Busy weekend this week, we sold DD's first bike on E-bay and it's due to be picked up on Saturday...we only made £10.50 but I'm fairly happy with that.

DS's last bike is on there too, but we have put a reserve of £50 on it. We ended up buying DS a new bike and because of his height he has got his first adult bike...he's only 8!!!

Money made from E-bay will go towards the credit card bill and pay off DS's bike.

DS is two weeks in to his new climbing club and appears to be enjoying it, so that's a relief.

Right off to get motivated. x

Can they do that, pick someone for the job without interviewing if there's more than one candidate? Didn't think that was allowed. Did you send in a proper application, or was it more an informal query?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • The job is for a 6 month contract. The other lady is being given an interview and I was told that if she wasn't suitable then they'd offer me the job.

If I go for the job, then I would be giving up a permanent position and I would still have to apply for the job when it is advertised again for a permanent.

The other lady has more experience and I know her so I'm not too fussed that I didn't get an interview this time.
  • Good morning,

Busy week this week, I'm back doing overtime at the Juniors again. My boss is back next week (so far!) so back to normal next week.

    DH gets paid tomorrow :D

Sold DS's old bike on Ebay and the money was supposed to be paid off the BC but has been used to keep us afloat over this past few days instead. When DH gets paid though, I must pay the extra off then.

Had my first AF evening last night, the first one in ages. I feel okay, didn't sleep very well though but it was nice to wake up feeling reasonable without feeling carp :)

Have put feelers out for a new cleaning job or two, as much as they are a pain in the bum, the extra money I cannot sniff at as it is needed.

Formulating a plan of action for next 'month' and I will not be beaten! Not drinking will help and will save us money plus the usual NSD's.

May be I am going about this the wrong way? May be I am trying too hard and that is why I/it fails a lot? May be I'm not trying hard enough? I've been doing this for many years now and I still can't get it right!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting disheartened; just trying to figure out where I'm going wrong.

    More thought needed.

Have a good day everyone x
