I can't go under it, I can't go over it...I'll have to go through it....Part 2

  • Okay, I'm back. It's been quite an upheaval this past few months with one thing or another and I haven't kept track of things which I am now kicking myself for.

Having checked the credit cards we are double what we were at the beginning of the year....not good, very bad!

After much consideration, I have decided that I will wait until the recent purchases have cleared before I do the balance transfer, that way I can be 100% sure what amount I am moving over to the VC.

Have checked the online banking and all is okay, the remaining DD's have gone out and what is left in the bank account we will need to be very careful with.

Have done my shopping list for the kids uniform and other school bits, not as bad as I first thought so will take the kids to Croydon next week to get them.

I need to check the 'pots' accounts as I took some money out of one to pay for uniform bits before the end of term and would like to know how much is in the accounts, then I can update the spreadsheets accordingly.

I can't remember if I mentioned it but there's one good thing about DH's new company; if the job/jobs he's on makes money, he gets 1% of that profit as a bonus. Bonuses are paid every three months :D

We have agreed that should DH get a bonus, we will split it in half and pay a chunk of the debt and the other half in the bank. I'm hoping that this will be the case as we'd be able to clear the debt fairly quickly.

Feeling fairly positive now. Off to get stuff done. Laters x
  • Not doing too good with keeping things written down am I? I should update every day! Naughty girl!

So DH has been in his new job just over two weeks now and is still stressing that he feels he can't do the job...based on what he's told me, he can do the job and more besides!

It has been a bit of a pain though as we've been having to drop DH at the station and pick him up again every day. Still it saves on £4.90 daily parking charge and I get his car to drive lol

DH's redundancy is due to be paid on Thursday and I need to book my car in towards the end of the month for an MOT and to get it serviced (at last!)

Have finally managed to transfer the balance from the Barclaycard to the Virgin card, waiting for the transfer to clear then I have a full picture of what is owed. The 0% is until November next year, so will give us a little breather until then and I can then look at transferring it again once November next year comes around. Rough estimate owed is £9000

Double what we owed at the beginning of the year and then some.

Once DH gets paid from new company at the end of the month, I will have some idea of what I can over pay.

On the plus side, I've sold some of the kids clothes on FB and I've uploaded some more.

Got to get my butt in to gear again and start fighting rather than plodding along!!!

  • lurvlyloz - Thanks hun, I think you're right :D

    Good morning world,

Well after much soul searching and berating myself, I have come to the conclusion that I cannot change how this year has so far happened....I am getting rather peed off though and would like a serious change of luck this end.

    Still onwards and upwards!

I forgot to mention, I ended up banking the change out of the demi-john...£71 in total, not bad for half of the year.

    FB total sales: £20.50p :D

Planning on taking the monsters to the cinema tomorrow to watch Despicable Me 2, and then McDonalds for lunch. Aiming for a LSD that day but we'll see.

Today I'm taking the kids to get their school stuff...What Fun!

Should be a fairly LSD today too but we'll see.
  • Good morning!!! Feeling very happy this morning.

DH's redundancy was paid and it was slightly more than what they told him it was :D So internet banking done, have transferred over part of the redundancy so we now have a small buffer if anything happens.

Have paid off the Capital One card...this is used to pay for the RAC yearly and is only ever a small amount so I don't count it in our debt figure.

Checked the VC yesterday and the balance transfer hasn't gone over yet but is showing as pending hence the update on my signature.

Need to check the Park statement and work out what is owed on that and let my mum know her final amount as she was asking yesterday and if possible I will pay off what I owe and then it's all done and dusted this end.

Kids and I are off to the cinema this morning, we've been to Tesco's and got some snacks and drinks and we're going to McDonald's for lunch :D DH is out tonight for dinner and a catch up with some of his old colleagues from last company, although he won't be late as he's got work tomorrow, he won't be here for dinner tonight, so pizza out of the freezer for me :D

DH gets paid from new job on the 29th, which will then allow me to work out the budget properly. I'm aiming that we will make overpayments to the VC as well as getting the 'pots' built up ready for next year.

Feeling very optimistic about the future now; we will get debt free come hell or high water!

Balance transfer completed :D:D that should save us a few pennies each month. I've had to update my signature again as I forgot about the transfer fee...:doh:So total now owed is a whopping £9,030.95 GULP! but we've a few weeks saving grace as the first payment isn't until the 1st Sept, which I can then make an early payment when DH gets paid from new job :D I plan to pay over the minimum even if it just rounds the figure to a nice £9k figure.

Feeling in control, for the first time in a long time.

Paid off my side of the Park hamper and updated my mum on what she has left to pay...Christmas for the family paid for, just hubby and kids left to sort.

Been to the cinema with the kids and Mc'D's all in all about £35 spent, of which I used the £20 from the FB sales towards it so total spend today was £15 :D

Just remembered I've got the gas and electric bill to pay too. Hoping that they can wait until DH gets paid rather than pay it out of the redundancy money.

I know that I will need to move some of the money back in to the current account as there is the mortgage and a few other things to come out before DH gets paid again but what is in the 'pots' should cover some of that.
  • Quick update, pots now depleted :( spreadsheet updated, just mortgage to cover.

    All's good so far!
  • Good morning...TF it's Friday  the rain has started here today :(

Am I the only one that wants the kids back at school on Monday? My two as much as I love them are driving me mad, both are arguing and trying to out do each other and DS is doing his hardest to wind me up! Oh well, just over two weeks left to go.

Taking DH to the station this morning, we discussed the prospect of selling my car and just using his; we're not going to do anything straight away, just something that we're going to consider in the future.

Have checked online banking and so far so good, the mortgage hasn't come out yet but the account has caught up with some other things that came out.

Off to Makro this morning with the kids to get some party stuff for DD and her friend's joint birthday party. I need to get some washing powder and fabric softener as well.

Need to nip to the chemist to get DH's prescription and the post office to get the passport forms.

Washing to be done today, which as it's raining and we're going to be inside all day will give me something to do. Need to wash the kids new uniform bits and get them labelled.

Right off to get motivated, have a good day x
