  • Hi Diary,

Been a while again I know, I've been busy at work and getting used to the new hours is tricky.

Both credit cards have risen...Bad but unavoidable over this past few weeks...long story but aiming to get a grip again on them.

A few things sold on Amazon but nothing yet on FB.

Trying to avoid drinking during the week, have managed two days this week not a lot I know but its a start.

Need to meal plan at some point for the 'month' and get the grocery bill under control.

I remember Hypno seeing how long she could make £20 last and that she did really well with it...I would like to have a go at this and I'm sure it would help with the NSD's.

Need to fill the car up as DH got paid today, been walking to school with the kids a lot this week so need to keep the momentum up with that.

Need to see what the pots are up to and update them but will do them later this afternoon.

Right off to get motivated, will try and get back on later. x
  • Quick update time, sorry I've been AWOL but things are manic here at the moment.

DH's redundancy notice period came to an end at the beginning of last week, he received another letter notifying him that he is still on notice and that he is to attend a meeting at HO on the 16th July. Due to various things happening on site, he is without a doubt that he will be going next week. Bit of an @rse as he likes the company but there's not much he can do about it and at the end of the day the redundancy money will come in useful.

Workwise for me all is going well so far, have passed my Cooks Craft level 1 and will be booked up for the others come September. Enjoying the variety the new job gives me too and of course the extra money.

Trying hard not to spend anything however because of things with DH, it is not easy. Still plodding along.

Kids finish for the summer in just over 2 weeks and I'm on countdown now :D

That's all for now, will try and update more this week but I think it won't happen until I know for sure what's happening with DH.
  • Sorry to hear about OH, must be awful waiting and everything being in limbo.

Well done on passing your cooks course.

    Take care pwps.x.

  • Quick update time, sorry I'm a bit sporadic at the moment.

Hubby got made redundant last Tuesday :( however, being the bloke he is he made a few phone calls to someone he used to work with, interview at 8.30am the next morning and....Job Offer at 9.20am :D Such a relief AND the company although it is the same as the last one, it seems better set up.

DH doesn't get his expenses paid like the last company, however they are offering enough that it covers it anyway. The company also has a bonus scheme, so if a project (that he's working on) makes money, he gets a small percentage :D

Redundancy pay gets paid next month as he normally would and DH's first pay for his new job at the end of the month :D

As DH will get paid on the 28th of every month as opposed to the 15th of every month, it's going to get some getting used to again and some planning.

DH starts work on the 29th July and has had this past week or so as holiday as he hasn't had a holiday this year and is unlikely to get another one.

Right got to go, will try and update tomorrow. Very happy that he's sorted and so quickly too, that's a relief.

  • Sorry your hubby was made redundant, but fantastic news that he was able to find a new job so quickly.
  • Back again and hopefully for good this time. I will be so glad when this year is over with.

DH started at his new company today and from what I can gather he seems ok with it, only time will tell.

Have set myself up with my annual Summer Holiday cleaning list, have made a big start and managed to knock a few off already, still got lots to go at so that should keep me busy :D

Went to the doctors a few weeks a go as I've had white patches appear on my skin, I think its Vilitigo and I had to have a blood test as well as going to see the Dermatologist.

Long story short, my first blood test has come back and all is ok apart from my bone density one, low calcium I think? I'm waiting on my second immunology one to come back and then I have an appointment with the Doctor to discuss the next steps.

Dermatologist is booked in for the 5th October to determine if it is Vilitigo.

Also Credit Card has jumped up again, I know we need to tackle it but at the moment everything seems to be coming at us in one fail swoop. Even though I was trying to get rid of the VC one, I think I'll transfer the BC to it as they're offering quite a good rate and I'm thinking we can review it next year.

DH's redundancy is going to be split, one half is going to be banked in case this job doesn't work out. The other half is going to be used to service and MOT both cars and DH wants us to get the passports done.

Food budget wise, need to carry on with it; we're not too bad that way but could do better. Want to try and get this months to last until the end of the month when DH gets paid from new job so will take some planning AND will take some topping up.

Kids and I are meeting my dear friend and his wife for lunch at the local pub on Wednesday so aiming for a LSD that day and if the weather is nice, I've promised them the park after.

That's about it for now I think, my brain is fizzled lol. Will update tomorrow xx
  • Good morning,

Part two of house clean was done yesterday :) only got the bits and pieces that I hate doing to be done, so plan to do those over Thursday/Friday.

Having a day off today lol Going to speak to my mum on Skype shortly and the kids and I are going to meet my friend and his wife for lunch.

Need to think about dinner tonight for me and DH and will possibly result in something out of the freezer, need some thinking.

Plan to go through the freezer and get a meal plan together for the rest of the month.

Will have a look at the credit cards and see if I can move the BC over to the VC and see if there are any good deals about.

DD's 7th birthday is towards the end of this month, so need to get some ideas for that.

DH seems to be a bit bewildered by his new job/role and overwhelmed by what is expected of him, however I think its a good move for him it's just the circumstances of how it came about that wasn't nice. A few weeks/months down the line and it'll be like he's always been in the job (I hope).

Nothing much else to report. Will try and update later once I've got a grip on the credit cards. Oh and aiming for a LSD today.
  • Well first week of the Summer holidays is nearly finished :) and its raining...BOOO!!!! :(

Any how, I've been looking at the credit cards this morning and I have a dilemma. I want to transfer the BC to the VC. The BC shows balance+recent purchases and the 'new' balance. Do I wait until the recent purchases have cleared and then transfer it over to the VC or should I just transfer it anyway based on the 'new' balance?

Have lost all inclination to do anything today, so I think I'll have a lazy day.

I plan to try and get a meal plan drawn up for the rest of this month today as well as getting a list together of what school clothes I need to get for the kids.
