  • Good morning diary, thank god it's Friday :)

DS is home today, I hope him and his classmates have had a good time; I expect that he hasn't showered whilst he's been away lol One thing I'm not looking forward to is the mountain of washing.

DH has been paid, which is always a good thing and the shopping is coming later this afternoon.

Have paid the Virgin card and the Barclaycard, once again we'll get charged for a late payment with BC but if they ask for payment the day before DH gets paid there's not much I can do, however I have paid over the minimum so they'll be happy that side.

We've got the Council Tax and the Water Rates to come out this month as well as my mum's birthday and Easter, I'm sure there's other things but will try and scrape through this month intact.

Aiming for alot of AFD's and NSD's not only to improve my health but should also save us some much needed money.

Paid the final bill for E.on, so they're now gone for good.

I need to fill my car up today and see if I can make it last again.

I'm going to do my own Fiscal Fast this month, if I don't need it then I don't want it so I'm not buying it.

I'll be back later once I've done the spreadsheet x
  • Good morning diary,

Why are weekends never long enough? I feel like it has flown by this weekend.

No AFD's acquired this weekend but am aiming for a at least four this week.

Going to Makro this morning to buy some bits, I need to get a 3 amp fuse for the shower and some NicAssist for DH as I don't need anything else, today will be my first NSD of this week. I need four this week if I am to have any hope of hitting my target for the month.

We have got plenty in the freezer so am going to try and devise some sort of meal plan for this week.

I need to put some petrol in my car too this week but will hold out until I need to. Walking with the kids to school and back is on the cards again this week if the weather holds.

Plan this week is to try and keep up with the housework as well as the washing. Going to be busy I think lol
  • Morning diary,

Feeling really tired this morning; I think it was because it was my first AF night of the week, so my body is trying to get used to the lack of alcohol.

NSD was achieved yesterday and today should be one, I need to nip to Tesco's for some Easter eggs and other bits, I didn't get chance to get there yesterday. I will not be buying anything for me as I don't need anything, I have defrosted a hm lasagne out of the freezer so I'll have that either when I get home from work later or before I go to work at lunchtime.

I'm trying hard to get the old me back, the old me never used to spend or drink during the week, I used to have more energy, sleep better and generally be happier. My main aim this year is to get me back and I'm hoping that the small changes I'm making now will help.

Sorry I'm rambling, must be the lack of sleep.

No news on either job (yet!) I'm still annoyed but need to hang it out until the end of the month to see if anything does come from either company. If not, I will start applying again in earnest for all and sundry.

DD has a school Music Festival at one of the local schools, all the Year 2's in the local areas attend. I'm collecting my friend's daughter as well as DD from the festival and my friend is getting my DS as well as her's from the relevant classes and will meet me outside school.

Walking to school this morning with the kids seeing as the weather is a bit drier :)

Filled the car up with petrol yesterday so aiming to make it last as long as possible.

    Other things to do today:

    Washing
    Wash up
    Sort dinner out
    Lunches for kids and DH

    Off to get sorted. x
  • Morning,

I didn't manage an AFD last night; I spoke to my mum earlier in the afternoon and she had bumped into her sister (they don't get on and have been near each other for many years) anyway I cropped up in the stiffled conversation and the sister turned round and said 'Oh she is still with that bloke then'...cheeky b!tch!!!

She had been misinformed that we'd moved to Scotland though but my mum corrected her and told her that I was still living down South, which she wrinkled her nose up about.

Anyway, on to money side of things.

DH's expenses have been paid in, I need to sort out the spreadsheet and figure out what has yet to come out.

I think the power shower has had its day, the fuse keeps tripping. I'm going to see if I can get a different amp and see if that makes any difference but I doubt it.

Should be a NSD today as yesterday wasn't one.

Today will be an AFD, I shouldn't let small minded people wind me up.

Picking up my friend's boys this morning and Friday morning as she has a course to go on, so will be using the car.

That's about it for now, hopefully I'll update later x
  • Quick update, although there may be another one later.

Checked the Virgin card and after this months payment came out it left the balance as £605.47 so today I have paid off the £5.47 to leave the balance a nice round £600.00 :D

That combined with the Barclaycard...total now owed for both is £5953.03

I would love to pay off the £3.03 on the BC to tidy it up but will see how we go on this month. I believe that the BC will go up again this month so will pay off any odd amount once the next payment is due.
  • !!!!!!! If its not one thing, its another! The power shower has now given up the ghost.

Granted it has been in the house since we bought it, so it must be over 12 years old but not something we need to go now!

Thankfully, one of my friends husband is an electrician and is coming over on Friday after work to have a look and see if he can fix it or not.

Chances are we will need a new one and they aren't cheap.

    Feel like giving up now!
  • Good morning,

Thank god it's Thursday, one step towards the weekend and one more day nearer to the end of term. I'm getting really fed up of the weather now, I want some sunshine. This weather makes it hard to make me feel like I want to do anything.

Today I'm cleaning so I will have £18 for that; hoping her DH isn't there so I can get done and out quickly.

DD has Rainbows today, this is the last one until after Easter.

I got totally fed up yesterday with the whole shower issue. DH looked on the B&Q website and there is one similar to the one we have and I still have some money on the gift card that my mum gave me nearly two years ago, so I'll put that towards a new one.

Need to scrub the ceiling in the bathroom as we have mold on it and DH wants rid of it before my friends DH comes over to look at the shower.

I think I need to attack this whole debt busting issue in a different way. Hubby is a Project Manager and he manages sites and how their money is spent, so I was thinking may be I should use his approach to how the finances are run in the house?

I feel like I'm losing my way and I'm worried that I'm going to lose the plot again and we are going to be in even more debt than we are because of it, I can't let that happen.

Need to take stock of things over the next few days and get back up to speed and not so much have a plan of action but find where we are and what we need to do to move on.

back to work after baby -Jan 2014 - total [STRIKE]6905.28 [/STRIKE](1 credit card) £3535

Debt Free Date March 8th 2017 (31st birthday)
  • Thanks Lurvly :) I can't give up, I know I can't; I blame the weather and the grotty gray days for my mood this past few days but I have felt like I'm fighting a losing battle.

But all is not lost...I did my cleaning this morning and the lovely people gave me £20 not the £18 I charge, so I paid this into the bank along with a £5 I had hanging about in my purse.

No more cleaning until after the Easter break now, so I need to be on the ball and keep spending to a minimum!

I've just logged on and paid £20 off the BC, so that should reduce the overall minimum payment when it is due next month.

I've checked the VC and my odd payment from yesterday hasn't cleared yet, so I'll keep checking and see if it does, I may even pay off the £5 I've paid into the current account just to get it under £600 but we'll see.

Blast I forgot I've got my mum's birthday in just over a week, she's asked for money as she wants to get something for her car if she breaks down. Lots of NSD's and AFD's and we should be ok to cover it.

Which reminds me today was a NSD :D

Forgot to mention DH changed mobile providers to 3 as Vodafone in our area is literally none existent and has got a great deal with a better package for half the price. I plan to change mine over next month too.

I will take control and I will sort this mess out, I want DH to stop worrying and get some sleep at night.

Still no news on the job front  guess I'm stuck with the kitchen for a while longer. Once we get Easter out of the way, I will look again in earnest.
  • Good morning,

It is Friday. I had a fairly good nights sleep and I've woken up determined to get on top of things.

Checked both CC balances and the VC one is now at £600 and the BC one is down to £5333.03; total now owed: £5933.03 :D Okay it is more than we owed at the beginning of the year but it isn't unmanageable and any odd money I have will go off the balances.

Last night was an AFD, so I'm made my target for this month; aiming for a few more though :)

    Things to do today:

    Wash up
    Washing
Get the spreadsheets up to date
Formulate a plan for Easter holidays
    Sort dinner
    Work (boo!) :rotfl:

One thing I was thinking last night was that when I had my own place before I got married and had the kids, I was on the bare minimum wage wise and I survived. I'm sure that if I have that same mind set I can get back to how I used to be, I rarely spent anything mainly because I couldn't and never drank during the week.
