  • Morning, it's Friday and its the start of a new month

    All things moneywise first:

£10 paid to the school for DS's Wednesday roast....this came out of my cleaning money yesterday.
£5.50 paid to my friend for the cards.

    Still to be paid:

Park Hamper - Need to pay in my mum's cheque and pay that off along with mine

    Coming up in March:

Mother's Day - I'm going to use one of the M&S vouchers for my mum and get DH's mum an Argos voucher

DS's trip to Kingswood - Need to buy him bits and bobs off the list the school provided

My birthday - DH has asked what I want, there is only a DVD I've asked for so hopefully he won't go mad and spend lots.

School's World Book Day next Thursday - need to dress the monster's up as a character each.

On to today. Walked to school with the kids, nipped to Tesco's for some nibbles for the quiz tonight.

Today I need to try and get the house in order, so I can feel a lot of rushing about going on after work.

I still haven't heard from the MD or the Council job, I'm a bit annoyed as I thought I'd have had a least a letter or an email

Nothing much else to report. x
  • Good morning,

Life is getting in the way at the moment and I'm not too sure I like it.

On the upside I have acheived 2 NSD's this month.

Checked online banking and not looking good, DH gets paid in 10 days.

Meeting my friend for breakfast this morning, I've been trying to get to see him and his wife for ages but things have got in the way for both of us and it hasn't happened, so a well deserved catch up needed.

Sorted out some change yesterday and paid that in to the current account, not much but it helps.

Cleaning day on Thursday too, so a bit of money there.

I've paid the Park Hamper and paid in my mum's cheque for it.

Received the Council Tax bill yesterday, I thought we were on 10 months but no it appears that we are on 12 months, so I don't need to change that. It has still gone up though by £2 per month. Waiting for the Water Rates to come through now so I can change that over to 12 months for the year.

Have been thinking about drinking or my drinking, I know I have mentioned it before...did any one participate in the no alcohol in January thing? I'm thinking of doing that in April but besides the money saving side of things, I wondered if people actually felt better for it? May be I'll have a nosy on the alcohol thread.

Walked with the kids to school yesterday but won't happen today as I'm picking up my friends boys and its too far to walk.

Not feeling this whole money saving thing to be honest, things seem to be stacked against us and I feel like we are ploughing through treacle!

    Still onwards and upwards.
  • Decided I needed to be more proactive and as such have posted a few questions on the alcohol thread.

Forgot to mention as well that I'm still waiting to hear from either of jobs :(

Have a good day everyone x
  • Back once again with a quick update.

I have taken a lot of thought today and have pledged 4 AFD with the view that eventually I will not drink during the week. I can't do cold turkey, I've tried in the past, so I think cutting down initially will help.

Had breakfast with my lovely friend this morning but felt rather full after a full english lol

Nothing else spent today so I'm quite pleased with myself. I need to buy MiL a voucher tomorrow and get the Mother's Day cards sent off.

Have a lovely evening everyone x
  • Good morning,

Had a good day yesterday, not quite a moneysaving one but a low spend one.

Today will be a low spend one too, I need to get DH some NicAssist gum and some Beconaise and I need to get MiL a voucher for Mother's Day.

Had a low alcohol night too and looking at tonight to have even less.

Nine days until DH gets paid

Checked the bank account and although not looking good, I'm going to try and make it last what is in there.

DD has Film Club after school, the teacher running it sent a letter out asking for confirmation to show E.T :D DD saw it over Christmas and was very excited to get to see it again :rotfl:

Right shower time and time to get motivated, see you all later x

  • Morning Happy Thursday.

Managing on the reduced alcohol intake but I am finding that I am tired; I think it is because I'm getting a decent sleep at night now rather than waking up during the night wanting a drink.

Next week my aim is to cut out drinking during the week, I'm hoping that this will save us some money too.

DD enjoyed watching ET yesterday, they get to see the rest of it next week :D

Cleaning day for me today and I need to nip to Tesco's for some bits.

Spoke to my boss yesterday too, she's over at the kitchen I work at today, she said that she has an idea that she wants to discuss with me...I think it may be a good thing.

The Bursar remarked yesterday how efficient, organised and proffessional my kitchen was being run; this is due to the normal lady being off sick (again!) and I have someone else working with me who is a godsend.

Checked online banking and the last DD hasn't come out yet.

Got all the washing done yesterday, need to hoover the stairs and the landing today. I'm trying to get the housework sorted in stages until I've caught up. DS has been told he needs to get his bedroom done but we've agreed 15 mins a day.

Right off to get motivated, have a good day everyone x

  • Morning diary,

Feeling rather poo this morning, I drank far too much last night; 2 glasses of orange juice, vitamins and paracetamol and I'm beginning to feel a bit more human...not a good look for me!

As I have a lot of gin to get rid of; I'm going to drink that instead of wine as I don't drink loads of it.

    Moving on....

My boss had an idea however it wasn't anything too exciting just something work wise.

Checked online banking and so far so good. Not brilliant but should be ok.

DD had an accident at school yesterday, she tripped over someone and hit her face on a table. She's going to have a nice shiner once the bruising comes out :(

Meeting a friend of mine for coffee this morning, we can't decide whether to go to a caf! or back to hers...she's got two lovely puddy cats so that may be an option and cheaper too.

Will update later, have a good day everyone x
