  • Where would I be if I married my first partner.
What s in the past is in the past so who knows. From memory it could have gone either way. a great or a rubbish relationship. Eithe way it's water under the bridge and had a couple of relationships inbetween and from my experience the older you get you more you can reflect with experience and realise the mistakes you may have made and the decisions you made were maybe not the best ones. No clock to turn back

I'd be a widow - sadly my first boyfriend died in 1992, at an early age.

We had split up in 1979, and I met my now husband a few months later.

I was sad when I heard about my first boyfriend, as I had always remembered him with fondness, we just weren't right for each other.

probably miserable wandering if he was still playing away. Although I still do think of him occasionally as yet again he does pop up on facebook but just no way of ever agreeing to be friends. We had good times but just wasn,t too be. I have bumped into him and my mum says he still has that sparkle in his eye for me....... what ever mum....xx

Good thread OP, I think a list is about to form lol:
    • I'd have a child I didn't want (I don't want children and we'd both agreed on this from day dot)
    • I'd have had to give up the career I was working towards
    • I'd be stuck indoors, waiting on him hand and foot whilst he went out drinking, taking drugs, with no desire to care for his child
    • He would have been sleeping with someone behind my back like he was just before we separated
    • I'd probably have ended up leaving him anyway

I can hear the words "Lucky escape" ringing through my head. The divorce was painful but worth it in the end; much happier now with someone who respects me ;)

    Where would I be? Dead.

He was an abusive alcoholic who almost killed me right before I left him to go into a women's refuge. Marrying him was my worst ever decision- getting away was the best.

I'd have children. They'd be nearly adult, though. He's a nice bloke and I suspect we'd still be fairly compatible. We'd be running a pub together I guess, and I wouldn't have a career to fall back on. I don't think life would be as good as it is for me now, but certainly bearable.
