Sky came out today, telephoning at 8 am to confirm a time with me first. Engineer asked what was wrong and then said, "I'm not gonna mess about looking for fault. We'll fit a new box, dish and cables and that should sort it."
Box now has twice capacity of before and all because op posted his email for us. Many thanks, I could'nt be happier.

We have a Thomson sky+ box it fails on odd recordings and there is no pattern to it. We always get no signal messages all the time aswell especially when its recording. Do you think there is a problem with the box?

I sent my email off a few days ago, reply came to say engineer would come round free of charge and install a new box. I was happy with this, however, received a call tonight whilst out and message left to say that box was out of warranty (it's about 7 months old) and there would be a £50 call out fee. OH said he didn't know anything about this as Sky is in my name. Woman on phone hung up without explaining. Not sure what to do as I can't afford £50 but box is faulty and programmes are out of sinc with voices. Anyone else had this and any advice?

this has got to be one of the most useful posts I have seen. I have sent my email off after having spent months of trouble with my Amstrad box - and it does only seem to have been affected since last year!

thanks OP for bringing this to our attention.

Thank you - I have a new Pace box and fingers crossed - so far no probs. I have still not been with sky for 12 months and this is my third box after numerous problems. My question is............

Do I get 12 months warranty on the box that has just been installed? Sky say not but I do not think that is acceptable, surely they must provide 12 months with this new box? Any advice?
Thank you to everyone who has helped me MoneySave
