(drop-off is fine - collectplus & ipostparcels seem to be quite reasonable, yet their reviews are mixed)
If it's just a one off parcel, either of those should be ok..0 -
Havenot had time to read all the previous posts but my experience of Parcel2Go is Parcel Don't Go With Them. Its a long and tedious tale and I shan't bore you. Just Don't Go with them (unless you have a few hours with nothing to do except try and sort out the mess they make for you). I wish I hadn't even started...
I am back with Interparcel, my regular supplier of the last 8 years. I have found its not worth my time looking at any other supplier, no matter how attractive the so-called deal may seem.0 -
Myhermes have sent me an invoice to my Paypal account for an apparently over stated weight parcel.
They've delivered it no problem, but want an extra £7.50 due to the extra weight over what I stated.
They've also emailed me to request payment within 7 days or they will "add it to my account".
Has anyone else faced this?
What happens if I don't pay?
After all, the parcel has been delivered so for me it's case closed.
However, I don't want any nasty repercussions as sometimes a small bill can bite you if not settled, even if you deem it unfair.
Any help on this would be appreciated.0 -

They probably are not going to chase you too hard for a small sum but may refuse to take more parcels until you settle up.
If you are sure you declared the weight and size accurately I would dispute the extra charge.0 -

Would you have preferred they delayed it?0 -
It's ironic that the reason the parcel was no doubt overweight was due to the extra packaging to ensure it arrived in one piece (just got one back today horribly squashed that was quite well packed).
I think on balance they did the right thing in delivering it, then charging me for the extra weight, as the over-riding objective is to get it delivered by plane, train, automobile, or donkey (when they take weeks I can imagine a myhermes donkey travelling along the M25).
However, how can I now dispute the weight when the parcel is already delivered?
And consequently should I pay the extra plus an admin charge?
What are the consequences if I don't?
A black mark on a hermes account matters nothing to me.
But a debt collector or similar I have a policy of avoiding (by paying at the earliest opportunity).
I have an invoice sent to my Paypal account, but presumably they don't have the right (like ebay) to snatch funds at their whim.
So on balance I feel I ought to pay up, shut up, and weigh future parcels more accurately (using real scales, not guesswork or a try your luck approach).
But on the other hand I feel a little put out paying more when they've taken the opportunity for a dispute over the weight out of my hands by going ahead and delivering, then billing me extra.
Coming back to the irony, they'll most likely lose yet another customer over this, as in future I'll be not only be weighing my parcels more accurately, but also weighing up whether they are worth the hassle - probably better to go for a better service where I can go to town on the packaging so every one arrives undamaged (an ever increasing issue).0 -
Thought I'd share my experience for a recent purchase off eBay. With the strong GBP against Euros, it makes sense to make your purchase from mainland. I recently bought four wheels and tyres off ebay Germany. I had to arrange the delivery, and Parcels Please were significantly cheaper than the rest: 4 wheels and alloys in 4 parcels each 20kg, cost me onbly £68. That was incredibly cheap! It was delivered by UPS (you wouldn't know until you book), transported by road but in three days. I checked almost all courier brokers but the next cheapest was £99.0

Quick question about Hermes: does anyone know if it's possible to link more than one eBay account to the same Hermes account, and if so, how to link a second account?0

That might be better posted on the eBay site on MSE."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
Thanks to MSE's last weekly email I was able to use the MSE negotiated link for a free delivery by parcel2go of an item that I recently sold on Ebay. The link allows new parcel2go customers £10 discount on the price of a delivery booked with parcel2go, so with my delivery due to cost about £7 it worked out free. The parcel2go offer is live until the last week in March. parcel2go are just an intermediary and you can choose to use any one of a number of well known and reliable carriers for your delivery, depending on what level of service and compensation you need. I normally use myHermes which was an option this time through parcel2go, but because I have found that their deliveries can take up to 5 days I chose instead to use a more expensive service that would get the parcel to the recipient much quicker. So I chose UPS Standard. The ordering process with parcel2go was really easy and their site then linked to UPS for the necessary details, labelling, etc. I chose to drop off the parcel at a very convenient local collection point - a local garage shop. The parcel was collected by UPS from there within 30 minutes and delivered at the destination address the next day, all for free.
The only other advice I would give regards using parcel2go, would be to ensure that you are happy with the level of compensation for loss/damage offered and to read their compensation terms and conditions and prohibited items and exclusions very carefully. I noticed that the list of items that they are happy to carry and deliver but are 'excluded from compensation', is very extensive indeed, so if your parcel contain something of lowish value that you're willing to take a risk on, their service is fine, and for me a free delivery and saving nearly £7 postage was excellent. Thanks to parcel2go and MSE.
(I would have posted this report on the dedicated 'parcel2go £10 off' thread, but unfortunately it's been 'locked' because of 1 perceived potential false negative post - if this post can be added to that thread by a moderator then that would be good!)0
