Cheap Parcel Delivery - official discussion

It seems incredible that other than Royal Mail there is no service for sending post i.e letter or document at a reasonable price. The only alternative option is to use a courier service with a minumum charge of around £30. Even Royal Mail service is poor, ' International Signed For' costs £6.30 for a letter to Brazil, supposed to take 5-7 working days, sent 15 days ago still not arrived. This is second or third time letter lost. Was also advised after posting that no tracking provided unless this service selected at same price but in either case no receipt signature provided in Brazil.0

From looking over this article and then checking prices you list it seems that you are out.
for instance you can book a UPS express saver via interparcel (normally a fast reliable service) for £43.45 which is more than Transglobal, but much cheaper than World Wide Parcel Services whom you list.
If you do a quote with the same website for a UK delivery up to 30KG this is cheaper than Pharos Parcel using the same UPS service and not much more than P4D again using a generally better service UPS vs. ParcelForce.
There are many instances like this using various websites and services and options - I dont think you are showing the full picture in fairness and it would seem that the companies you seem to be listing might 'assist' the MSE website maybe (£££££)??
All I can suggest to all users is have a good research around for the lowest prices. The parcel comparison websites seem to be moving prices about quite a bit up and down for the UK/European/worldwide services.
Also check review websites, but take these with a pinch of salt (I have found this out over time) - these websites use the same people to deliver so they will all experience a similar level of failed collections or delivery/pick-up issues, so if there are lists of amazing review-after-review I would question their integrity. Again I know from personal experience that the review websites can be twisted and manipulated to make people look better than they are! Same goes for social media and cleaning up company pages!
Finally always read the list of restricted/prohibited items that you can and cant send and make sure your items are really well packed. Having fragile on the box doesn't matter and is a waste of time - if you have an expensive/valuable item then make sure it is covered by insurance etc and don't use the cheapest service; choose a service that is in parity to the goods being sent.
If anything goes wrong (and it will on occasion) and you cut corners then you will be the one that loses out in the end!0 -

Have looked to p2g for most NZ family boxes, but was shocked this morning to find costs have near-doubled since Christmas for this one:
w39cm x l39cm x h19cm, weight 3.2kg.

Just wondering whether anyone can recommend a reasonably priced carrier? The parcel will contain 4 moderately heavy pans, with insurance for approximately £100. Next day delivery, tracked.
Have looked at Parcelforce and their price seems to be around £15 to £16, for home collection. And they lost the last parcel I sent with them, several days before found!
North West, if it makes any difference.
Thanks for any advice.0 -
