  • I just got back from a weekend in Spain and realised I left my earrings behind. The hotel found them and asked me to arrange for a courier (collect from Spain, deliver to the UK) to send them to me - they will not consider simply posting them to me. I have never used couriers and the earrings in the envelope would weigh close to nothing I guess. I am completely lost!

    Can you please help?

I'd phone the hotel and explain, offer to sent the cost to cover them posting back for you.

Thanks - tried but was told that they cannot post them. Any ideas as to the cheapest courier for this very ligth item (collect Spain and deliver to UK)?
  • https://www.parcel2go.com/tv or https://www.ecoparcel.eu are likely to be the cheapest.
  • Is it just me i wonder? I have had several obliterated parcels sent via Hermes this week alone. Damage is getting expensive for my company. Anyone got any thoughts regarding Hermes? I am looking for another company to use and am open to suggestions.

There are plenty of alternatives listed throughout this thread, which is best for you would depend on the size/weight of the parcels you are sending.

P4D have an InPost drop-off service, which isn't too expensive. Other than that there's Collect+, or you could try contacting Yodel to see if you send enough parcels for an account.

Hey guys, Worldwide Parcel Services have 10% off if you spend £30 or more, code is summer10pc - don't see it shared here yet
  • I needed to post a laptop (£400).
it seems most carriers have them on a restricted list so you can pay for insurance but are actually not insured!
Interestingly price for insurance of a package valued at £450 varied form £4 to £23! Looks like a variant of the white goods insurance scam.
Anyway, I went in the end for ipostparcels.com

As far as I could see, laptops are not restricted items
    Insurance for £500 is £4
They will collect from a nominated safe place (so you don't have to be in)
    They provide tracking
You get an email when its been delivered.
And the whole thing, including extra insurance was only £14.99

I'll post back if the product turns out to be as good as the marketing material :-)!
  • Myhermes - damaged 50% of the parcels I have sent
They now have a list of exclusions covering anything that cannot be broken with a baseball bat - but I suspect even they might not be safe.
My advice is go elsewhere or sooner or later you will regret it
