It'll be interesting to see the Cheap Parcel Delivery article (cannot post link as new user) to which this forum post links updated now Royal Mail have announced their new 2013 parcel prices. Anything over 8cm deep is deemed a "Medium Parcel" and will cost £5.20. At the moment it costs £2.20 (and in 2011 if it was under 100g just £1.33).

I'm not sure I quite follow you, but courier prices change a lot that's why this thread is useful.

Have any of you tried calling the couriers direct rather than use these middle men.

Most of them will give you just as competitive prices, if you ask them and you get to miss out the 3rd party.

also the claims procedures and allowances can be much better .

A friend of mine contracts directly with ParcelForce. She pays about £7 + VAT for 48hr service. I know I couldn't get anywhere near that due to my low volume, so I go through DespatchBay, which costs £6.13+VAT. But she prefers the direct relationship due to what she ships so it's worth the slight additional cost for her.

I did answer your other post. ;)

I know you want to send it tracked, but if that is purely because you need to win a dispute, the other option would be to send them standard airmail small parcels, you are covered (for the moment) up to £46 with a certificate of posting (free). You will find the price should be less for that service.

    Thanks for that

I couldn't see my original post so did it again :o

Paypal have said they will give me refund when they know parcel has been delivered so it needs to be trackable

Have a quick read of the sticky on postage.

Paypal need it tracked, but the RM trackable services are not guaranteed, so it may not track anyhow.

Ask yourself. If the seller doesn't get it back how many times do you want a refund? Not being silly, you only need refunding once. Royal Mail will do that (assuming the item is £46 or less) free of charge with the certificate of posting. You don't need to WIN the dispute. If the item is lost, it's lost.

No worries, it just may save the pennies.

The seller will either get the return or not. As long as you have the certificate of posting, if the item is £46 or less, then Royal Mail will cover you, even if Paypal won't.

It's easy to let Paypal tell you it needs to track, it does if they will reimburse you. But we have to assume the seller is honest. If it turns up then you won't need to claim. If it doesn't, then it's lost. So you claim from RM.

For such a low weight, RoyalMail is probably your best bet

The only two I could find cheaper were only slightly so:
    £24.85 Transglobal Express
    £24.87 P4D

P4D would be trackable and I think Transglobal would be, but not 100% sure

    Hope this helps
