  • Sorry.... Maybe I'm just bad at this kind of research, but where did you get the qote of £108.39 from ParcelMonkey? I tried and got £72.49 and £95.99 (Yes, which is cheaper) but I think I may be doing something wrong??

According to ParcelQuote, your cheapest options would be :
    ParcelMonkey - £108.39
    Transglobal Express - £115.48

    Hope this helps..

    It's probably including additional insurance.

Haha whoops sorry mate, when I did the search I accidentally put Australia instead of Canada :o Must be missing home

    For Canada I'm getting:
    £70.61 Transglobal Express
    £72.49 ParcelMonkey
    £73.17 P4D

    Best of luck..

You try telling that to an insurance firm ;)

So are you saying that any courier firm you book with won't pay out if losing a laptop? I've been sending laptops and insuring them to full value (a couple were valued over £1k) with various companies including clickandsendparcels for a few months now without even knowing that, at a big expense. It's a bit worrying if none of them include insurance for laptops :(

Many couriers specifically exclude laptops from their insurance , it is always best to check your own couriers. However, it doesn't mean that they will not allow the item to be sent, some exclude them just for damage but some exclude them for loss as well- so check.

Haha- no worries! Was wondering why we were getting different amounts..

Also, have you used these companies before? Are there many differences between Transglobal, ParcelMonkey and P4D?

    Thanks for your help!
  • Have any of you tried calling the couriers direct rather than use these middle men.

Most of them will give you just as competitive prices, if you ask them and you get to miss out the 3rd party.

also the claims procedures and allowances can be much better .

I've used Transglobal to send a parcel to USA which worked well, everything as promised. Haven't used ParcelMonkey or P4D yet, would be interested to hear the experiences of any other forum members if they have? I remember when I was looking to send that USA parcel, seeing that Transglobal and P4D had pretty good reviews on sites like TrustPilot and ReviewCentre, ParcelMonkey I think wasn't quite as high. But I'm not sure how reliable those review websites are, a lot of the reviews seem way too positive or way too negative to be believable..

It'll be interesting to see the Cheap Parcel Delivery article (cannot post link as new user) to which this forum post links updated now Royal Mail have announced their new 2013 parcel prices. Anything over 8cm deep is deemed a "Medium Parcel" and will cost £5.20. At the moment it costs £2.20 (and in 2011 if it was under 100g just £1.33).
