The rain has been relentless for the last 2 days so today we have had a shopping and house tidying day.

We did our food shop and it came in at £36.08 and I have almost that amount left in the food account to cover it. We popped into town this afternoon and bought a few bits in primarni (£14), whsm1th (£6.99) and superdrug (£6.99). Ha d a bit of a mad panic when i realised I'd left my card in one of the shops but it was all sorted quickly.

Also got my eyebrows threaded but it was free because I had 6 stamps on my loyalty card :T

DD had a mass tidy out of her bedroom. She seems to have a rather obsessive need to clean which isn't too bad a thing but I do somethimes feel that she's criticising my standards (which I think are high anyway).

We've got a few bits together to ebay, her dolls house (which i have ended up doing more DIY on than I have my own house), a leather jacket that i bought before xmas that i just don't like and have never worn and one of those weighted power hoops. The plan is to list them tomorrow night but in reality i bet i don't get round to it for another 3 weeks.

I'm dyeing my hair. It seems to be becoming a more regular occurrence :o I've gone back to my usual dark brown/black. Last time I used a slightly different shade but it was just too brown and i didn't really like it.

Going to rinse the dye off in a little while, get dd into bed then I am going to slob on the sofa and eat chocolate. Rock n roll....

Payday yesterday so I've shuffled all my money around. Have put money by for holiday, groceries, petrol and emergencies. Also earmarked some for new bike tyres and pole classes.

Food shop came to £37.03 so within budget.

We risked the snow and went to 1kea today as I desperately needed a chest of drawers for my undies etc. At the moment I've got sliding wardrobes across one wall with hanging space on one side and shelving on the other and after 5 years I'm fed up with trying to find my underwear in the boxes on the shelves. I'd seen a tall slimline chest of drawers that would just about fit in the only available space in my room so I bought that and a new desk chair for dd - £125 in total.

I have however put my back out trying to get the chest package into the car :( lord knows how we managed to get it from the car to the house but we did - girl power :T. I've put it all together - in a weird way I actually really enjoy putting flatpack furniture together - and I'm pleased to say it looks really nice. I've also taken this opportunity to throw away all the underwear that I never wear and everything is so much more organised upstairs now :)

    Meal plan

    Saturday - Chilli
    Sunday - fish pie
    Monday - risotto
    Tuesday - at mums
    Wednesday - salmon pasta
    Thursday - tuna steaks
Friday - food shop day so undecided

I keep checking for snow. I thought we were supposed to get it all today and although it was snowing quite hard when we were in Essex by the time we got back to Kent it was just damp and miserable but it is very cold.

Right, think that's all for now. I need to slap some more deep heat on my poor back and do myself a hot water bottle to lean against. Poor old woman me :o

I love putting flat pack stuff together! When married I wouldn't let the ex do it, I can do it better myself :)

We're off to ikea in the next 2 weeks now were on hols, I need a chest of drawers as all my undies are in the ikea drawer dividers sat on a shelf unit - my bedroom is a mess:o but hey, who ever sees?!:rotfl:

How are you doing? Missed your updates though I know I've been rubbish with my diary, I've given up;) I'm still being as mse as I can be though - of course!

There is something so satisfying about putting furniture together. I think 1kea is brilliant because at least all the drill holes are accurate (in the past I have found that Argoose have been dreadful). I know 1kea doesn't have written instructions but so long as you scrutinise the pictures and take your time you shouldn't have any problems.

I got the Hemnes 5 drawer narrow chest. It's quite tall but it's given my room a whole new look (it was a bit boring before). I'm so pleased with it now. Got the urge to build some more now!

Anyway how are you? Any more news on the internet man?

We have had a rather lovely day today considering we haven't really done much. I made a cauliflower cheese from Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food cookbook (cooking for dummies :o) and I have batched it up and frozen it for my lunches at work this week.

DD did the dusting for me (she's turning into a clean freak) and I got all the ironing done. Then after a lunch of bacon sarnies we got her homework done. Then I made a cushion cover from some material that I bought from 1kea about 2 years ago. Anyway it's for the cushion on the Lloyd Loom chair that's in my bedroom.

Later on dd practised her knitting and I helped finish a pom-pom that she's making for brownies and we watched The Borrowers. It was all very nice and cosy :)

DD is going for a camping trip with brownies so I have today paid £60 for that. It seems dear but it does include coach travel and 2 days entrance fees for the theme park where they will be camping.

I'm so pleased that despite all the problems she's had with her friend (who is also at brownies), that she not only really wants to go on this trip but she is really excited about it already. She's only ever stayed at my mum's or at school friends' houses overnight so I'm so glad she's got this self-confidence. I certainly wasn't like that at her age and even now still dread things if I'm not sure what the set-up is going to be.

I've been invited to a wedding reception that evening so I will either go on my own or find someone to take :D

    No other spends today.

Really busy at work and barely stopped for lunch so am absolutely shattered tonight.

Booked up dd's after school club for next term. It's gone up 25p a day so now is £10 a session. So that was £120 quickly spent but as I had already put it by it was virtually painless.

I also renewed the home insurance. I went through quidc0 for £40 cashback but annoyingly it hasn't tracked yet so I may have to get on to them if it's still not showing by tomorrow.

It was parents evening tonight and I got a good report for dd. She is at level 4B at the moment with a view to getting to 4A by the time she leaves year 4. Her reading is at the stage for year 7 but everything else she just needs to knuckle down a bit more to put the icing on the cake and be the best she can be for her year group. Her teacher did say that she's always happy, smiling and enthusiastic, she's not afraid to contribute to class discussions and is cheeky and has a wicked sense of humour which is all good to hear given her recent problems.
