Last year i took my pot money and banked it into its own savings account. It managed to gain £1.45 in interest in the year. It doesn't sound like much but it's £1.45 i wouldnt have had otherwise

I will also be potting £1 every time i go to the gym since i really need to start going again! I think i'll join you £2 savers and pot them too :) This year i really want to beat last year :)

Not surprised either after all that pigging out tother day!!! :rotfl:

I quite agree with what you say about banking, Ruth, why not gain a little more in any way we can.

Look at it this way, folk, if we bent down 145 times in the year to pick up pennies wouldn't we be thrilled!!! :D So, banking it (or putting it in the BS) every now and then or at the end of each challenge - if it's not needed - and you'll get whatever the interest is - without picking it up off the pavements etc! :j

I've only just started and it's changed my shopping habits already - instead of fishing around for change I used my £1 coin so I would have some more change for my pot lol.

43p to go in today so far. Can't rescue my DH's small change he has been collecting his for years in a haribo rocket.

You're a changed person, Solstice, wonderful news! :grinheart Well done your DH too!!

Potted 55p today, 50p change from buying Christmas tickets and 5p that I got DH to hand over!! He wasn't overly keen, I don't think he understands it's 'OUR' tin yet!! :D

I just can't believe how much I'm saving already!! It's crazy, anything will be a bonus but I'd love to get a couple of hundred in there! I love MSE :money: and especially this thread...of course!! ;)

Tell your DH about all you intend doing with the cash this time next year mossy and how it "would mount up IF we both contribute OUR money! You've come a long way financially, as have most of us, but we've done it, or are doing it, and that's all credit to us all, MSE too of course. From the last highlighted part above, you sound so excited mossy...well done and keep firing on all cylinders!

Hi mishmogs and thanks for the info, ah well, not to worry though I'll keep on looking. The highlighted part above is music to my ears as I'd hate us to be that bad, you did the right and honourable thing for sure! ;)

Well done you, Kerry! Good to see you at last. :)

    Thanks for adding me Sue.

Can I put my target down as £50 please? I will be potting everything from 5p downwards and any odd bits of roadkill I find (hoping to find the stray fiver here and there lol)

Seriously though this money is not for me to keep, I plan on giving it to a charity in Cardiff who run a daily soup kitchen Mon to Fri and then a nightly food run every night. Everyone in need is welcome and they have around 50 visitors a night.

The charity also makes up about 250 food parcels for those in need.

This is only a small charity compared to say the Foodbank but the volunteers are out each night come rain or shine to feed the homeless, vulnerable and needy so I will be pleased if I can reach my target.

I have already decided to forego one luxury a month and that money saved I am using to buy food for this charity but I would like to also make a donation of money so they can claim the gift aid.

So whilst my £50 is a small sum it will go a long way :)

Sorry about missing you off above, Kittie, we both posted at exactly he same time. :D

I've updated your Target to £50, all the best in achieving it.

That is so very admirable a charity that you're helping fund, especially at Christmas and through the winter!! It has to be awful at such times.

Very best wishes, to them all also! :)
