Potted an array of coins collected from inside the car this morning
Went to B&M Today but resisted the temptation to buy one of their sealed Money tins, but for anyone who is looking to buy one they do have some great ' KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON SAVING' ones for 89p
OH decided to start on a tub of celebrations his mum gave him, needless to say I'm only helping eat them because i want to tub once they are gone :A
Ohhh! how could i almost forget to mention my 1st road kill find picked up and potted myself 1p , also had a strange moment, i actually thought about stopping the car as i drove out of the local shops car park because i'd spotted another 1p on the roadSPC ~ 6 ~ MEMBER 18730 -
morning all,
£2 potted this morning- dont know where it came from as it fell on the floor when i went to put the washing in the machine so probably hubbies trouser pocket. off to town later on so may get some spare change .
No signs of first grandchild puting in an appearance yet so december is going to be a nervous one waiting for the phone call. DH and i have decided to donate some of our pot savings to them and we are now putting £30 on their electric card and £40 on a supermarket gift card too. we dont want to be worryng about them being cold or hungry etc. one less thing to worry about and wouldnt have had the spare cash to do it if it wasnt for this wonderful potting site.

Potted over £3 last night. I'm going to adopt the idea of a "holding" pot - OH likes to keep some change for parking emergencies (and unfortunately we're visiting the hospital at least weekly at the moment). I found 2p by the parking machine yesterday - so my parking "only" cost £1.48!
Happy Potting!0 -
A very warm welcome, mascott514, it's lovely to have you with us.
Enjoy yourself saving. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.
*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it helps so very much.
WOW...Ruth! That was some bag of money!!! What a boost! :j
I am happy to be joining for another year of potting, and I am in a much better place financially so there is more scope for potting any spare bits this year:j
I have also been snaffling the OHs change that he leaves lying around, only the smaller bits but well...I'm just tidying up arent I?
I am thinking of emptying it every now and then at the bank and instead of popping it into my regular bank account i will pop it in my ISA, that way I won't touch it and it might get some interest, who knows
Hiya suzitiger, you old flatterer you!Splendid news to hear you're financially better off now! :j Good to hear you're such a good tidier-upper and [STRIKE]pinch[/STRIKE] move DH's cash to clear things away...best do more of it!!! :rotfl:By all means empty your cash and bank it every now and then, it makes perfect sense. Please, just be sure to pop it on your siggy for sparky. Thanks suzi.
Well done, mumof3plusoh!
Lovely to see you again, Footie, and well done with that cash.recurrent-ostrich wrote: »I'm not declaring yet for this year, sorry! We are saving for a holiday at Whit next year, and the pot is about half full, so we're going to keep going and open it in May.
Hi recurrent-osterich, lovely to see you back! That's all fine, in fact you'd already told me last year (or whenever) as that's on the list by your No. All I ask is that when you do take it out - please count it and pop the amount on your siggy so sparky can add it to his spreadsheet for next year's Grand Total. Thanks a lot.debtisgoing wrote:Thanks for the suggestion Sue, I'm going to try that. I've made a slit in the lid of a large jar and taped up the jar lid and i've found another jar to use as the holding jar.
You're welcome, debtisgoing, good to hear.
To anyone else who's somehow 'forgotten' to seal their pot  and finds themselves needing to dip in: Why not use a pot as a 'holding pot' and pop the money in their first each week - then if it's not desperately needed - put it into a Sealedpot so it stays put. Do that each week and you may end up with even more next year. Discipline yourself to only take what's needed!
We don't really have any debts as such but I did have one bill I was paying back. As it was interest free I paid £100 a month and it was going to end in February but I had some extra money and decided to get rid of that debt as a Christmas treat to me!! :xmastree: I know it probably sounds like a trivial thing compared to what some of you are striving to clear but the feeling of clearing something that's been hanging over you like a nasty reminder is probably the same! Now every little extra can go into our deposit ISA. :T
That's great news, mossy! I don't think anyone here would find that trivial, it's what it means to YOU that counts and I think it's wonderful! :grinheart
Well done, chupachups, it's good to see our friends from across the channel.
...at a girl, Emily, ooh you will have savings to be proud of if you keep this up! :jlittle_sweetie wrote:And NO Sue I'm not after another star:rotfl::rotfl:
...and NO, little_sweetie, you weren't gonna get one anyhow! :pI couldn't give them away to folk every time or they'd thing that it was ME who was the real Father Christmas! :rotfl:
blindtoast wrote:I've been potting stuff as it appears in my pocket (wish that was by magic rather than just change!) I've got £2 to go today from the change I got from buying a Christmas present
Me too, blindtoast, but such is life. Change from gifts etc though is a great way to make yourself save, VERY well done!

Great potting, slowlyfading!
A brilliant idea of yours and DH's, black cat. It's so good when folk have sealed pots, but don't need to dip into them! Having said that, hospital CPs should be free, but only for patience and visitors who should be given passes.
Have a good day, all.

Hi all
I haven't had chance to read through this for days so I hope everyone is okay and potting well?
I have managed to put some money in my tin, change from filling up the car with petrol, so not a lot obviously  but better than nothing.
I will settle down with a cup of tea tonight and have a good old read of the thread for inspiration (I am sure there will be bucketloads of that)
Have a good day all
Take care

I'm in again please, started a new pot when we got back from our wedding anniversary holiday in the Dominican Republic. Had a fantastic time and actually came home with a tan (and some money left!) I don't think I'm going to put a target this time, just keep potting £1 a day and see how much I manage to save.Sealed Pot Challenge member 28

Hi Gap, I know this came up last year or 2010 and I said "No". However, are the £2 thread Totals added up at the end of the year or whenever?? If they are then, sorry, but it has to be "No" as it would be the same total used twice even though it's on a different challenge; if they're not then ok and folk can gladly add them here. I think that's fair, but please let me know the answer to the question first. Thanks.
There isn't really a set ruling as such. You can save for as long as you want or as much as you want. You can use the money if you want or keep it until the end of the year. I plan to use the Sealed Pot principle with it, i.e. I won't be emptying it or counting it until a certain date but I think I will keep the £2 coins separate from my Sealed Pot to avoid confusion. Also I am saving them towards spending money for a holiday in 2014 which is completely different from my Sealed Pot savings and so I will probably keep the pot sealed until 31st December 2013. Oh well, just means I will have to work harder at filling my sealed pot!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76

I've just done the £2 Savers Club and Sealed Pot challenge separately but for 2013 I'm just going to do the Sealed Pot Challenge. I'm still going to save £2s - I'll put gold coins in a separate pot for ease of counting - but stick to one challenge. I think I'll find it easier to keep up with the thread this way and I'm looking forward to a higher total.
I think I'm going to have to find a bigger pot for this year ...
Hi Black Cat,
If you have gold coins, I want your address:D:D:D:D:D!

Hello SPC-ers
I'd like to join for the next year please. I have a 'sealed' pot that I already stick all my change in, but it gets broken into every couple of months when I'm a bit skint (or desperate for a choccy bar...)
I'm hoping that better budgeting from now on will mean I can just leave my pot untouched until next xmas for a lovely treatWondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0
