Afternnoon everyone
Really wish I was about to declare pennies going in the pot! I had a spare £2 from a day out at the weekend and thought that could go in my pot - but no! The work tea fund (which is very impoartant!) needed re-stocking so it had to go on that.
Will be quicker at getting it in the pot next time
Happy saving everyone xxSPC 6 - #18580 -

A very warm welcome, mcmanlyn, it's lovely to have you with us.
Enjoy yourself saving. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.
*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it helps so very much.
mcmanlyn, will this help: To anyone else finds themselves needing to dip in: Why not use a pot as a 'holding pot' and pop the money in their first each week - then if it's not desperately needed - put it into a Sealedpot so it stays put. Do that each week and you may end up with even more next year. Discipline yourself to only take what's needed!
I have managed to put some money in my tin, change from filling up the car with petrol, so not a lot obviously  but better than nothing.
I will settle down with a cup of tea tonight and have a good old read of the thread for inspiration (I am sure there will be bucketloads of that):santa2:
Hi Nessa! We're all fine too..well as far as I know, thanks. The way you've started off is just fine, and that's pretty much as we all do it, though you will find some on here who [STRIKE]riffle[/STRIKE] look through their hubbies pockets!! Can you believe such a thing? Me either :rotfl: Anyway you can save (so long as it's legal!) is fine, but strict bugetting helps a lot; stopping drinks out and potting the cash instead or not buying snacks out but making your own sandwiches etc and stashing money saved in your pot. Also, walking (if poss) and saving on fuel. There you go see, just a few instances.I'm in again please, started a new pot when we got back from our wedding anniversary holiday in the Dominican Republic. Had a fantastic time and actually came home with a tan (and some money left!) I don't think I'm going to put a target this time, just keep potting £1 a day and see how much I manage to save.
Heellllooo again, Lucy!! :hello: I'm so thrilled you so thoroughly enjoyed your 40th anniversary in such a marvellous way, a tan too???!! Well done both of you (I take it you took DH?!;)) and money back in the pot too!! :Tgirlatplay wrote: »There isn't really a set ruling as such. You can save for as long as you want or as much as you want. You can use the money if you want or keep it until the end of the year. I plan to use the Sealed Pot principle with it, i.e. I won't be emptying it or counting it until a certain date but I think I will keep the £2 coins separate from my Sealed Pot to avoid confusion. Also I am saving them towards spending money for a holiday in 2014 which is completely different from my Sealed Pot savings and so I will probably keep the pot sealed until 31st December 2013. Oh well, just means I will have to work harder at filling my sealed pot!
Naughty naughty, Gap,you're evading the question! Do you declare it on the £2 challenge??? IF not, then you're welcome to save it all with us!

suzitiger and little_sweetie - Last year i took my pot money and banked it into its own savings account. It managed to gain £1.45 in interest in the year. It doesn't sound like much but it's £1.45 i wouldnt have had otherwise
I am attempting to pot £1 a day this year, last year it didn't last very long but i will try. I will also be potting £1 every time i go to the gym since i really need to start going again! I think i'll join you £2 savers and pot them tooThis year i really want to beat last year

I've only just started and it's changed my shopping habits already - instead of fishing around for change I used my £1 coin so I would have some more change for my pot lol.
43p to go in today so far. Can't rescue my DH's small change he has been collecting his for years in a haribo rocket.Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

Potted 55p today, 50p change from buying Christmas tickets and 5p that I got DH to hand over!! He wasn't overly keen, I don't think he understands it's 'OUR' tin yet!!
I just can't believe how much I'm saving already!! It's crazy, anything will be a bonus but I'd love to get a couple of hundred in there! I love MSE :money: and especially this thread...of course!!
SUE Thanks, I am really chuffed to have got rid of it. Back in the day before DD we were heavily in debt (around £20k) and it was awful. Stress headaches every time the credit cards had to be paid. Thankfully that's almost 10 years ago and we've learnt our lesson and haven't had any major slip up since then! However there's always ways to improve our financial savvy'ness and this site is fab for helping with budgeting and saving!! :T
