ive just got back from sainsburys in chesterfield there was only 30 bags up for grabs. it was very well organised,i got there at 7am and there was already around 20 people in the queue, there were 2 women at the front in garden loungers with blankets that looked like they had camped out all night!!!! at around 7.30 they came out and handed us all a numbered ticket which we took to the customer service desk at 8am when they opened, lots of people arrived after 7.30 and were dissapointeddont wait for your boat to come in, get in a dingy and row out to it!!!0

I got one I got one
Got to my local sainsburys (Clapham High Street) and was the 24th person in the queue. Or so I thought. When we finally got instore there were LOADS of other people that had been queuing by the car park entrance, bit cheeky of Sainsburys not to tell us about that. However it was all very fair, they came out about 7.40 and handed out numbered raffle tickets until they were all gone. Then when the store opened at 8 they kept coming over the tannoy and saying 'bags will only be sold in strict ticket number order' etc. Although heaps of people there, it was all very civilised. One guy in a suit got stroppy cos he rocked up at 8 expecting to be able to buy one and couldn't believe there were no raffle tickets left. I got there about 7.15. Our store had 90 bags to give and I would estimate there were about 120-150 people there.
Then going in to work this morning I got SO many envious and covetous looks from people on the tube. Feel like I need a bodyguard in case I get musgged for my bag lol. I can't believe how much they are going for on ebay.0 -
I work at Sainsbury's and I would just like to say that staff did not get priority and we were not allowed to reserve bags.
We were told quite clearly by our manager that we couldn't buy one if we were in uniform or if we were actually working when the bags were being sold. This was to avoid all the comments such as I have just read on here that staff got in first. If we wanted one,we had to queue up,not in uniform, with everyone else.
I do think it is slightly ridiculous that people were queuing at 2.00am.Having seen the bag,it is not that marvellous and certainly not worth the stupid prices they are going for on Ebay.
In a few months time there will probably be lots available and then when everybody has one, they will be common.People only want one now because they are scarce.0 -
My son and I got to our local store at 7.25 (it opens at 8am). There was a lovely SA checking if people had arrived early for a bag or if they just wanted shopping, and split us into 2 queues. At 7.50 we were all given a ticket (my son and I were numbers 22 and 23) and the SA was telling any new arrivers that all 30 bags had been allocated, to save anyone from wasting their time. 8am arrived, store opened and we all queued at Customer Services for our bags. All nice and civilised.

My son is 17 and was automatically handed a ticket, no problems at all. The SA told us that no staff members were allowed to get a bag if they were working, but her Mum was in the queue for her
The bags are actually alot nicer than I thought they would be....so keep one and Ebay one is my plan.
Thanks to the OP for this brilliant thread!! :T2008 gig list... Nickelback + Staind (OMG...Staind ROCKED!!), Roger Waters, Infadels, Pendulum, The Police, K T Tunstall, Breed 77, Biffy Clyro....oh, and Motorhead

Last night on ebay there was about 190 odd Anya Hindmarch bags.
Today there are approx 650. Hmmmmmmmmmmm me thinks majority of the sainsbury's bags sold today have found there way to ebay.
Expect this number to go through the roof by this evening. Still don't think you will get it for a £5 on ebay but I think the prices will now start to come down.
For those of you who did not get one and really do want one keep a look out on ebay over the next week or so and hopefully prices will come down dramatically.0 -
Its funny that this bag is supposed to be about the environment, but when I bought one at CS they put it in a carrier bag to take away... :rotfl:
Also, I agree that I did feel smug when people kept showing up and were turned away...
It made me laugh though, we were let in at 8 to queue at CS and some woman had just randomly joined the queue about 2 in front of me expecting to get a bag. The CS were (rightly) quite short with her. 'you have to have a ticket, people have been here since 5.30!'
There was nearly a brawl at the back deciding who the 30th person was as well :rotfl:Reclaiming for family and friends. Won 4/13 so farHSBC CC - £263.25, Halifax CC - £179.45, HFC PPI - £589.00, HSBC PPI - £498.86, Lloyds PPI 1 - £4000 -

I have just been looking at these bags on Ebay in the hope that prices will come down so I can get one.
The lowest price one has gone for is £35 as a BIN item on 17th April - I bet they regret that now!
The higest prices are two that ended by auction today at £255 (to a new buyer though) and £240. Both had more than 30 bids!0
