snowgo - our AA membership rate goes up every single time, despite hubby been a member for about 35 years and only called them out twice, once they just took us to nearby garage to get a battery for the key fob. I now phone them every time we get the quote and tell them they are far to expensive and will be changing over to the competition, every year they knock us around £50 off which if hadn't of phoned them we would not have got so always worth a try.
Had planned to go to the bank today after shopping but have come down with a real rough cold and hopefully it will be tomorrow now. Which ever there will be some more savings before the end of February.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

Some major setbacks.....down from £2,100 to about £1,200!!! Need this month to end already and get onto march! Still going to have to drag myself onwards and upwards and get this £20k target hit this year....8 do not fail my goals!!
Will just have to step it up a bit over march and hopefully start making progress. Confident I can still do it!:eek:Living frugally at 24

Don't worry about the setbacks YB, you've still saved a considerable amount already this year. We're barely two months into the year so plenty of time left to go, and I do believe you said summer was your best time. Keep at it and I'm sure you can reach your goal. Lets be serious, even if you only manage 15K or so, thats still a serious amount of money to save in a year .

You are right enough, however the first £10k is to be invested and used wisely, the second £10k was for saving as extended emergency fund! £1,200 is £600 a month when I need to be a £1,666 a month average! So I'm way short! Just underestimated my spending since I have just bought a house 2 months ago! Have a few trips away next few months, covered from a hefty tax rebate though so all good! Just need this weekend to relax and recharge the batteries and il be back on a more positive note come Monday.:eek:Living frugally at 24

Had a refund from my prescription prepayment certificate this morning of £27.74, so that went straight into savings. It's surprising how even smallish amounts mount up.

Managed to get to the bank today as felt better and squirreled away £270 which am pleased about. I now have £971.76 saved and am going to try to make this up to £1000 before the end of the month, this will be a huge achievement for me if so and will help towards when the months are not so good.
Hope that everyone is still managing to save something and for those who have not managed to save what they expected so far remember that every pound does eventually add up and every journey requires that first step to be taken.

and every penny counts. Do some people remember the old Smarties tubes we used to get, the ones with the coloured tops? They used to hold £1 worth of pennies so if you had 10 of them filled with pennies, that would have been £10!Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

girlatplay - I do remember the smarties tubes and when my children were younger, the school used to ask them to fill one up for Father Hudson homes during lent.
Also my mum told me about Steradent tubes (the cleaning tablets for false teeth - other makes are available lol ) she used to give me the empty tubes and they hold £55 if full. One of these filled has paid towards daughters car tax more than once and is a great way of saving.MARCH £62.38/2500
