Hi all, not been checking in much as the first six weeks of the year are a nightmare for us BUT the money I have put by looks like it will be staying in the savings account now!
We are saving everything we can and living frugally so that we can 1) take family to Florida in December (it's booked and mostly paid for from 2012 savings) and 2) do much needed work to the house in 2014.
Will confirm the amount at the end of the month as awaiting a car insurance refund which hopefully will boost the amount a bit more.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

hello! I haven't had a chance to speak in here for a while...but I'm definitely still on the savings train! I've been selling a few things on the bay of 'e' which has raised a few quid
fingers crossed it's another successful month!

Managed to move £650 across to my savings account yesterday - was going to try to get my figures updated on the spreadsheet but have a problem with the car, estimated cost £665! :O
I live in hope that when it's diagnosed fully tomorrow it'll be something else, but I'm not very optimistic0 -
Hello,
I have managed to save £691.92 this month but it's been a stretch, January and February are awful for saving and it looks like March won't be much better. Still am up to £1,800 / £15,00 so that's not too bad!
Well done everyone else on your savings, feeling quite envious!!!

Amazing saving totals everyone. It is so heart warming to see people on track. I am off track and going round in circles as still on JSA but it's given me a kick up the backside to start working self employed so I can get saving!
Hopefully a nice total in the near future! xxMarried in 2016. Bought our first home in 2017. Expecting our first baby in November 2017

This month I won't technically be saving anything at all, BUT, I put the £125 from my sig into my savings on 21st January, and realised I needed it back in my account on 23rd Jan, so I put it back into savings on my last payday, so I am trying to feel proud of the fact I'm not having to take it back out. In effect I am saving £125 this month, I just prematurely allocated it to January! Got to find the small things, as I fully expect I am going to have to use all £125 from the savings to get through March. Bring on the new financial year, when things should settle down and I might actually manage to commit to this fully!
So impressed (and motivated) by what other people are managing though, leaves me a little bit gobsmacked tbh, good work all!0 -
hr_money Sorry to hear about your health. Looking after yourself has to be the priority. Hope things improve soon.

Orange_juice Well done on what you've already achieved.
Bexim Well done at sticking with it. You've got great commitment and sounds like 'borrow back' is helping you keep on track even when things are tough.
Everyone Thank you for all your posts and keeping this thread such an interesting and inspirational read.
I did really well yesterday after the shock of receiving my AA bill. It was £198.19, which was more than £40 higher than last years. What really galled me was that they sent me a gold membership card in view of my 9 years loyalty membership offering me additional benefits such as key cover. None of which I needed.
I was so disgusted by their attempt to cover up such a price hike with a gold membership that I decided to look at alternatives. So first stop the MSE motoring board. Discovered that I'm not the only one shocked by AA renewal costs and in amongst the posts a helpful discovery that as I drive a Toyota I can join Club Toyota for £64 which gives full AA benefits. After reading the small print I can't see any disadvantage and I've now made the switch. So thanks to MSE I have saved £134.19 which will go into my savings at the end of the month. (If you've got breakdown cover I suggest reading the thread on the motoring board before renewing, lots of good suggestions there about possible alternatives & getting AA/RAC price reduced even if you decide to stay with them.)0 -
Payday today :j
I've transferred £525 into my savings today. I'm not sure what else I can put in until I get past my upcoming service/MOT on the car. :eek:0 -
Had lots to pay out these couple of months - flight tickets to far east (so expensive nowadays), Butlins short break, OH and my car insurance, house insurance and cars' tax. Luckily, still saved 5,350 for two months. Well done to us!0
