£1250 located in forgotten shares. My mum took them out for me years ago at an old job. Not complaining.

Signed off work for another 2 weeks, will need to find something productive to do.

I really want to become an 'extreme couponer'. Imagine the cash you could save if you didn't pay for food shopping!!
  • Just had a check on my bank account situation and I think that this month could be a really good one at the moment (although I am sure there is a major bill or something missing, but my flat mate assures me none have come through). I'd aimed to save about £590 this month, but currently have about half again in my bank account left over from payday.

I haven't got into the whole pay myself first thing, I just don't know whether I would be able to manage it that well really. I'm worried that i'll pay over too much of my wages and run out before the end of the month, when I know that I'm still young enough to want to and be able to enjoy myself. I guess that's why my savings target is relatively low, I want to be able to have fun and not limit that by saying i'm going to save the absolute most that I can.

    Sorry for the ramble people!

  • I'm a latecomer but would like to join this thread with the aim of saving £5,000 this year towards a house deposit.

So far I have £300. Looking forward to getting some encouragement and advice on here! I've never been very goood at saving in the past so I'm hoping to turn over a new leaf this year.
  • Health comes first this weekend, "relaxing" day cleaning house, friends round tonight for cheap drinks before heading to the pub.

Was out whole night last night, cost me £12. Great laugh had aswel. Yesterdays earnings at work were great, £406 for my day, if only everyday was like that......one day, hopefully!!

  • Still plugging away with my savings. Have added in various bits including tax refund (happy days), money from amazon sales and majority of my wages.

Current total is £7600 and I am aiming to have £8500 in the savings account before my March payday.

There is still uncertainty about my job for next year so I am just saving all I can at the moment. Will update properly at the end of March to be in line with everyone else.

Another £100 into the share options and SIP. A £500 MOT bill plus battering away at the credit card means no 'proper' savings till May(ish). I still reckon I can make the big 10k though :D

I can barely keep my head out of the loo (morning sickness) I believe the only positive of feeling so crap is that I have no motivation to spend money. No motivation to make it either which is annoying.

On track to save £250 this month, which will put me back in line with my 2013 target. So happy about my saving at the moment, was only a couple of years ago that I'd be delighted about saving £30 or £40 a month. Making more from my job now than I had ever expected, increased from £160 per month in mid 2012, to about £280 per month now :D.

Was reading today about 'stoozing' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoozing) using your student overdraft, where you effectively withdraw a £2000 approx 0% overdraft and save it into a high interest savings account. You then pay back the overdraft after three years and pocket £100 of interest. Anybody got experience of this or something similar?

Hope everyone else is getting on well with their saving :)
