£250 into my Regular Saver, £600 into the new house fund (Mrs MM & I are paying in £300 each) and I have saved £437 into my own savings. I have also put £50 into the savings account for our summer holiday. 6 of us have booked a cottage down in Sea Palling which I am told is lovely in summer, its a place I haven't been so why not!
I'm not counting the £50 as that will get spent at some point, but very happy Mrs MM & I have saved £1,287 in the first month which puts us on target for the year!Grocery Challenge (2 adults 2 kids)

Sea Palling is really lovely, good choice!
Nothing quite like a recommendation! Really looking forward to it and only paid £390 per couple for 7 nights (There are 3 couples, 1 toddler, 1 baby) which I don't think is too bad, plus its something we haven't done before, we have muted many times of going on holiday together!
It is great to see so many people get off to such a great start on the 12k challenge! With all the bad news in the media on GDP, debt, Clueless Politicians, it always cheers me up to see how well people on MSE.com are doing. Personally we can't do much on the general economy but we can all take responsibility for our lives and save for our futures.

I'd love to sign up for this - been following for a while but thought I may as well make it concrete. I'd love to do the full 12K - I'm in uni and not particularly well off so whatever I do get in student grants will go straight in to the savings, and hope to have a part-time job down soon to help too. Good luck to everyone else xx0

Can I join you here and sign up for the full 12,000 please?
I need to build up an emergency fund first (we have nothing put away at the moment) and then I want to start chipping away at the mortgage.
we have a good income but have done some house renovations which have completely cleared us out and we're living on qute a tight budget to try and claw some money back.
This thread will motivate me to actually find some savings to put away.Trying to keep in budget.

Total for January stands at £1700 :j
Expecting a drop in salary in a few months time (positive drop in many ways as I'm getting training, but not good for the savings!), so was hoping to get as much saved in the first few months as possible.2021 MFW #35: £6000/£60000 -
Really want to get some savings added to get the year off the a good start. Will get paid £220 on Thursday but then have to pay £200 soon after as an installment for an expedition im doing in summer in south America, so not likely to add anything this month.
It seems like most of my £2000 goal will come from June to September as likely to earn around £900-£1000 in that time, then £100 interest payment expected, plus birthday is normally good for a couple of hundred from friends and family. Still not sure if I will be able to save much once I go to uni in October too, hopefully I can as plan to live pretty within my means.Save 12K in 2013, #203.
